About 2001 BMW M3
BMW built a new generation of its popular, M3 sports coupe in 2001. The new, E46 engine replaced the E36 platform of prior models and delivered 333 horsepower from a 3.2 liter inline six cylinder engine. The new engine shared just five percent of its parts component with the old engine. Some buyers, however, chose to wait for the 2002 M3 when BMW added the clutchless, sequential manual gearbox. But added features made the 2001 model one worth owning. Another notable addition was the new Dynamic Stability Control which, when combined the new variable M differential lock, made for superior handling on slick surfaces.
