About 2008 Chrysler Crossfire
In what looks to be the final year for this poor selling sports coupe, the 2008 Chrysler Crossfire receives minimal changes. The most notable of these is a now standard tire monitor on both the Coupe and the Roadster. Both styles come in one trim -- the Limited. Full power features, power front seats, heated seats, leather upholstery, a CD player, and keyless ignition are all standard. The soft-top Roadster adds a heated power window and an optional hard top. The only engine choice is a 3.2-liter, 215-hp V6 that gets 229 ft-lbs of torque. It is matched to a standard 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic, which increases the 15/23 mpg to 19/28. Built on the old Mercedes Benz SLK platform, the rear-wheel drive 2008 Crossfire shows its age, and critics say there is nothing distinguishing about its exterior or interior styling when compared to comparably priced coupes. The sporty profile is maintained by the dual exhaust tips, wide rear fenders, side air louvers, and the 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels. A retractable rear spoiler switches into gear when the coupe tops 50 mph. Safety features are top-notch and include ABS brakes, traction and stability control, and dual front-side and knee airbags. Faux alloy accents on the interior lend some minimal flair, and the dash flows into a center console that divides the two seats into their own cockpit-like settings. The trunk holds 8 cubic feet in the coupe and 6.5 in the convertible, with less than 4 cubic feet when the roof is down. Precise handling, responsive steering, and tight cornering stand out for owners of the 2008 Crossfire, but there are some issues with the rough suspension and poor visibility.
