About 2012 INFINITI G37
With no significant updates planned for the 2012 model year, the Infiniti G37 finds itself competing somewhat shorthandedly against similar competition from the BMW 3 Series, Audi A5 and the Cadillac CTS, as well as the similarly styled Nissan 370Z. While consumers have plenty of choices for body styling when it comes to the G37, it has been a few years since any significant changes have been made to Infiniti’s premier sports car. The Infiniti G37 is available in three body styles and 10 variations for 2012. The Infiniti G37 is available as a 2-door coupe; the Infiniti G37 Journey, the Infiniti G37x AWD, and the Infiniti G37 Sport 6MT are available as both coupes and 4-door sedans, while the G37 and G37 Sport 6MT are available as 2-door convertibles. Standard equipment for all Infiniti G37 models for 2012 includes Infiniti's advanced airbags (dual supplemental front air bags, side-impact air bags and roof-mounted curtain side-impact air bags), a tilt and telescopic steering column, XM satellite radio, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, USB connection port, front seat active head restraints, 4-wheel antilock brakes, traction control system, cruise control, dual-zone automatic temperature control and heated front seats. All Infiniti models come with a 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain and 4-year/60,000-mile basic coverage warranties. Also standard on the G37 Journey and G37x AWD models are 17-by-7.5-inch aluminum-alloy wheels equipped with all-season performance tires. Standard for the G37 Sport 6MT and optional on the G37 Journey are 18-by-7.5 inch aluminum-alloy wheels with summer performance tires on the front and 18-by-8.5-inch summer performance tires on the back. The 18 by 7.5-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with summer performance tires are an available option for all four wheels on the G37x AWD model. The engine in all Infiniti G37 models is a 328-hp 3.7-liter V6 with 269 lb-ft of torque. The 2012 G37 Journey and the G37x AWD are available with an electronically controlled 7-speed automatic transmission with both an adaptive shift control and drive sport mode, with an available manual shift mode. The G37 Sport 6MT comes standard with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission with a short-throw shifter. Both the G37 Journey and G37 Sport 6MT are rear-wheel drive, while the G37x AWD is all-wheel drive, with snow mode standard to help aid in throttle response. Optional equipment for the 2012 Infiniti G37 includes the Infiniti hard drive navigation system, Infiniti Studio on Wheels by Bose (which comes standard in the G37 Sport 6MT), a power-sliding tinted glass moonroof, driver’s seat lumbar support, rear decklid spoiler and a midnight black grille. Additionally, the powertrain warranty can be upgraded to cover 7 years/100,000 miles. All standard versions are available in liquid platinum, graphite shadow and vibrant red exterior colors, while the G37 Journey and G37X AWD are also available in moonlight white, smoky quartz, malbec black, blue slate and black obsidian. The 2012 Infiniti G37 Journey is rated at 19 mpg city/27 highway, while the G37x AWD is rated for 18/25, and the G37 Sport 6MT is listed at 17/25. One of the hallmarks of the Infiniti G37 series remains its handling. With an independent front wishbone suspension and rear multi-link suspension, both with stabilizer bars and coil springs, the G37 corners extremely well and offers a surprisingly smooth ride.
