How much does the 2014 Ford Focus cost?

There are 1,183 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Ford Focus earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers most often praise its stylish design, excellent fuel economy, and comfortable front seats. The overview also points to a composed, engaging driving character and a practical everyday feel, which helps explain why it remains appealing as a compact car. At the same time, the recurring transmission concerns are a meaningful caution, especially if you want an automatic.

With 27.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly points to the car feeling enjoyable to drive, good value for money, and generally dependable in everyday use, while also noting that some owners have had trouble-free experiences. The expert drive notes that the chassis and suspension feel stout and confidence-inspiring, which supports the sense that the car is built to handle regular use well. It also highlights that the dual-clutch automatic can take some getting used to, so used buyers should pay close attention to transmission behavior during a test drive.

If you’re shopping used, the biggest long-term ownership risk is the automatic transmission, so a careful road test and service-history review matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Focus?

At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had body damage or transmission-related complaints. Focus on how the car shifts, whether it shudders or hesitates in traffic, and whether the brakes and tires feel consistent with the trim level. Condition matters a lot here because the same model year can vary meaningfully depending on equipment and prior use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: S and SE trims use rear drum brakes, while other trims get 4-wheel discs; the Titanium adds stronger stopping performance and more upscale equipment.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder makes 160 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque, and the dual-clutch 6-speed automatic can feel hesitant in traffic; a 5-speed manual is also mentioned.
• Safety package: Seven airbags come standard, including a driver’s knee airbag, and the car earned a full 5-star overall score from NHTSA plus Good ratings from IIHS.
• Infotainment: The Titanium includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Ford Sync, MyFord Touch, navigation, and a Sony sound system; the interface is described as clunky.
• Fuel efficiency: The PowerShift automatic returns 27 mpg city and 37 highway, while the manual drops 1 mpg on both ends.

Which 2014 Ford Focus trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Focus is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the simplest path into the Focus, but it comes with rear drum brakes, so it gives up some of the hardware found on higher trims.
• SE: This is the trim most shoppers should start with if you want a balance of price and equipment, though it still uses rear drum brakes.
• Titanium: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete package, with 4-wheel discs, stronger stopping performance, the Sony audio system, navigation, and the most upscale tech and comfort features.

The safety package note is important: all trims get seven airbags and strong crash-test results, but braking hardware differs by trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Focus?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,183 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.63% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,826, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Focus's resale value?

The current average of $6,877 sits slightly below last year's $7,063.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and transmission health rather than just model-year appeal. Well-kept examples with clean history and strong maintenance records should hold up better than average.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus safe?

The 2014 Ford Focus earns five-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover tests, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Seven airbags come standard, including a driver’s knee airbag. The Focus also earned the IIHS’s highest rating of Good in all tests. One caveat is that braking performance varies by trim, with S and SE models using rear drum brakes while higher trims get 4-wheel discs.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Focus or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 combines a composed chassis with strong safety results and a fresh-feeling redesign.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $7,620, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $6,877 average.
• It brings a more polished, European-influenced ride and handling.

The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and strong safety credentials, the 2014 is the better value play. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly more refined driving feel, the 2015 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2014 remains the smarter starting point.
