Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Honda Civic 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2015 Honda Civic stands out as a compact economy car that delivers the basics buyers care about most: reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value. It is presented as a car that meets those expectations easily, while still offering more than the typical small-car formula. That combination makes it appealing to shoppers who want a straightforward, dependable daily driver without giving up the sense that they are getting a well-rounded package.
Owner feedback reinforces that appeal, with praise for its reliability, fuel efficiency, user-friendly design, smooth ride, and spacious interior. Those traits make it especially attractive for commuters and first-time car buyers. The main tradeoff is that some drivers find it lacking in power and note missing features compared with newer models, so its strengths are more about efficiency, comfort, and value than excitement.

The 2015 civic is a great value and great first car for a student or a commuter. It has great road feel, spunky power response, and good features. The visibility with the A-pillars is great thanks to the extra window. It will typically cost more vs. other competitors in the same class, but once you drive it you will understand why. I drove a Hyundai Elantra, which has almost all the same feature offerings in terms of technology and safety. For me, the Civic feels lighter, more powerful, more responsive.

How much does the 2015 Honda Civic cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $12,259 |
| Year-Round Low | $11,434 |
| Year-Round High | $12,297 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $12,081 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +1.47% |
Prices are up 1.47% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 2,244 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price and condition.
Is the 2015 Honda Civic a good car?
Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8.67/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, user-friendly design, smooth ride, and spacious interior. That lines up well with the Civic’s role as a straightforward compact economy car for commuters and first-time car buyers, especially if you want a well-rounded daily driver rather than something sporty. Good and great deals account for 29.8% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2015 Honda Civic reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback repeatedly highlights reliability, and the broader praise for fuel efficiency and a user-friendly design reinforces the sense that this is a car you can count on. The expert write-up also emphasizes thrift and dependability, while noting that the Civic’s value proposition is built around long-term usefulness rather than flash. On the ownership side, the included roadside assistance adds a practical cushion, and that kind of support can help reduce stress if you buy used.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the Civic’s core durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by age or mileage.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Honda Civic?
At 46.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. Because this model is often chosen for commuting, it makes sense to focus on wear items, interior condition, and how well the car has been maintained over time. If a listing looks especially clean and well-kept, that can matter as much as the asking price.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Base LX trims are the most affordable, while the EX Sedan adds a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with HondaLink connectivity and services, automatic climate control, LaneWatch technology, push-button engine start, a power sunroof, automatic headlights, and aluminum wheels. The Civic Hybrid is the most efficient, the Civic Si is the most fun to drive, and there is also a natural-gas version.
- Powertrain: Most Civics use a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with 143 hp and a CVT. The setup is tuned for easy merging and relaxed everyday driving rather than quick acceleration.
- Safety package: The Civic includes a standard reversing camera, and LaneWatch is standard on all but the LX and SE trims. HondaLink Assist can automatically call authorities after a collision when paired and enabled.
- Infotainment: The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system appears beyond the LX trim, and it includes HondaLink smartphone connectivity and services. It also supports a navigation app, third-party apps, Siri Eyes Free, and a tap-and-swipe interface.
- Fuel efficiency: The Civic is described as delivering effortless fuel economy in the low 30-mpg range, and the expert test drive notes 33 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2015 Honda Civic trim should I buy?
The 2015 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX Sedan, Civic Hybrid, Civic Si, and SE.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the least expensive path into the Civic and makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and the core Civic experience without extra equipment.
- EX Sedan: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 7-inch touchscreen, HondaLink, automatic climate control, LaneWatch, push-button start, a power sunroof, automatic headlights, and aluminum wheels.
- Civic Hybrid: Choose this if your top priority is efficiency above all else.
- Civic Si: This is the pick if you want the most fun-to-drive version and care more about performance character than everyday value.
- SE: This trim sits above the LX in the safety-package lineup, but the available content does not add enough detail to make it the default recommendation.
LaneWatch is standard on all but the LX and SE trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Honda Civic?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare condition against price.
- Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,244 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.47% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 46.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,434, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Honda Civic's resale value?
The current average of $12,259 sits slightly above last year's $12,081.
That modest increase suggests the Civic continues to hold buyer interest rather than losing value quickly. For a future seller, that’s a good sign because steady demand can help support pricing when you decide to trade in or list the car. The model’s reputation for reliability, efficiency, and value also helps keep it attractive in the used market.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Honda Civic safe?
The 2015 Honda Civic earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Civic comes with a standard reversing camera, and HondaLink Assist can automatically call the authorities after a collision when paired and enabled. LaneWatch is standard on all but the LX and SE trims, but it is not available across the full lineup. The safety write-up also notes that LaneWatch can add distraction for some drivers, so you may want to test it carefully before buying.
Should I buy a 2015 Honda Civic or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 46.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.47% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It delivers strong value, reliability, fuel efficiency, and safety in a straightforward compact package.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $11,072, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $12,259 average.
- It feels more refined and capable than its price suggests.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $13,846, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,259 average.
- It brings bolder styling, refinement, and build quality.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, owner satisfaction, and everyday usefulness, the 2015 is the sensible default. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 is the value play. If you want a newer-feeling Civic and can spend more, the 2016 is the upgrade path.
