Why it stands out

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class stands out for bringing a more dramatic, upscale look to Mercedes’ compact luxury sedan. For this generation, Mercedes gave the car a pseudo fastback shape and front and rear styling inspired by the 2014 W222 S-Class, while also making it 220 pounds lighter than before. It was offered as a sedan, coupe, and cabriolet, and it kept the rear-wheel-drive layout with optional 4Matic all-wheel drive. Inside, the cabin leaned heavily on S-Class influence as well, with finer materials than before and pretty chrome and wood detailing, which helped the C-Class feel more luxurious than many rivals.

The 2015 C-Class also appealed because it balanced performance, technology, and everyday usability. The sedan lineup started with the C 300, powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, while the higher-spec sedan was the C 400 with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 making 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Both used a seven-speed automatic transmission, and the AMG C 63 brought a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The car also offered a modest 7-inch touchscreen, an optional 8.4-inch unit, and plenty of controls, though the infotainment setup could be a little complex. Standard safety equipment included forward automatic emergency braking and daytime running lights, while more advanced driver aids were optional.

There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. Rear-seat space is only average for the class, with 35.2 inches of rear legroom, and the trunk is not especially large at 12.6 cubic feet in the sedan and as little as 8.8 in the convertible. Reliability is also mixed, with complaints often centered on electrical issues and infotainment or display problems. Even so, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class remains appealing for buyers who want a compact luxury car that feels stylish, well finished, and genuinely premium without giving up strong performance.
