How much does the 2016 Honda Odyssey cost?

Prices have softened 3.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,450 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare by trim, mileage, and condition.

Is the 2016 Honda Odyssey a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.91/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, good gas mileage, great handling, sliding doors, and versatile seating. That lines up well with the Odyssey’s family-first mission: it’s built to move people and cargo comfortably, with a cabin that stays useful and well equipped for everyday duty.

You also get a strong market signal from the fact that 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2016 Honda Odyssey reliable?

Owners rate it 4.91/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with repeated praise for its spacious interior, good gas mileage, great handling, and family-friendly practicality. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that it does the job of ferrying the family and all their stuff with loads of features to keep everyone happy, which supports the sense that it’s built for steady everyday use.

Honda’s warranty coverage adds some ownership reassurance, including a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the concept and more about how well the specific van was maintained and equipped.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Honda Odyssey?

At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, safety equipment, and interior wear. Because this is a family vehicle, condition matters a lot: sliding doors, seats, infotainment, and rear-seat features should all work cleanly and consistently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the only trim with seating for 7 instead of 8, and it lacks some convenience and safety upgrades found higher up. The EX adds power sliding doors, push-button start, and Honda LaneWatch, while the EX-L adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, a power tailgate, heated leather front seats, and a moonroof. The Touring Elite is the most feature-rich, with blind-spot information, HID headlights, HD Radio, and the strongest audio and entertainment setup.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 248 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is front-wheel drive only, and the fuel economy figures are 19 mpg city/28 highway/22 combined.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes vehicle stability assist with traction control, antilock brakes, daytime running lights, a rear-view camera, multiple airbags, active front head restraints, brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, and tire pressure monitoring. Forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot information are available on select trims, and Honda LaneWatch is standard on all but the base LX.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch high-resolution display, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink and streaming audio, Pandora, a USB audio interface, and MP3 capability. Higher trims add an audio touchscreen, SiriusXM radio, HondaLink with Aha, navigation with voice recognition, and on the Touring Elite a 650-watt, 12-speaker system with a 16.2-inch split-screen entertainment setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey is rated at 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined, and real-world testing returned 24 mpg in mixed driving that leaned slightly toward highway travel.

Which 2016 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2016 Honda Odyssey is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, EX, SE, EX-L, Touring, Touring Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the Odyssey, but it is also the most stripped-down. You still get useful standard equipment like a rear-view camera, power front seats, an 8-inch display, and the Magic Seat, but it is the only trim with 7-passenger seating and it misses several convenience and safety upgrades found higher up.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more family-friendly 8-passenger layout, power sliding doors, push-button start, Honda LaneWatch, and a better infotainment setup without jumping all the way to the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• SE: This trim adds rear-seat entertainment, a 115-volt outlet, SiriusXM radio, and the HondaVac vacuum cleaner. It makes sense if those family-focused extras matter most to you, but the feature mix is narrower than the EX-L and Touring.
• EX-L: This is the smart step-up if you want a more complete safety and comfort package. It adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, a moonroof, a power tailgate, heated leather front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
• Touring: This trim is the better choice if you want the rear entertainment system and navigation together, along with extras like fog lights, an acoustic windshield, and ambient footwell lighting.
• Touring Elite: This is the top trim and the most fully equipped Odyssey, with blind-spot information, HID headlights, HD Radio, the strongest audio system, and the widest entertainment screen. It is the right pick if you want the most features and are willing to pay for them.

Safety-wise, Honda LaneWatch is standard on all but the base LX, and forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning arrive on the EX-L and above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda Odyssey?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,450 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.65% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,283, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $14,173 sits slightly below last year's $14,710.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than just the badge alone.

Well-kept examples with desirable family features should hold up better than neglected ones, especially because shoppers in this segment tend to reward practicality and clean history. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.91/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2016 Honda Odyssey earns a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS and earns five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and a four-star rating in rollover testing from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes multiple airbags, active front head restraints, vehicle stability control, antilock brakes, brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a rear-view camera. Honda LaneWatch is standard on all but the base LX, while forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot information are available on select trims.

The main caveat is that it lacks autonomous braking, which kept it from earning the higher IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus designation.

Should I buy a 2016 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.91/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong family usefulness with impressive safety ratings and a well-equipped cabin.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,485, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,173 average.
• It brings more design flair to the minivan formula while still serving as a practical family tool.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around buy, the 2016 is the better target because it balances features, safety, and owner satisfaction with a still-reasonable market price. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the better value play, especially if you find one in clean condition with the equipment you want.
