Used 2017 Ford Fusion Energi for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2017 Ford Fusion Energi cost?

Prices have softened 10.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 83 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Ford Fusion Energi a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Ford Fusion Energi earns a 4/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

It fits best if you want a plug-in hybrid sedan with standard LED lighting front and back, a slight redesign inside and out, and a bit more electric range for 2017. The expert review also points to a familiar Fusion that benefits from a more modern cabin and Sync 3, while noting that the model has to work harder as newer competitors arrive.

33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Ford Fusion Energi reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The expert review describes the Fusion Energi as a plug-in hybrid that can make sense for a short commute, especially if you can go long stretches without needing to refill the gas tank. It also notes that the car’s extra weight and added complexity can work against it, especially when you factor in braking, storage, and component wear.

The performance notes also point to a car that can feel slow in electric-only driving and heavier than the regular Fusion, which matters if you plan to use it as a daily driver in traffic. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is less about basic durability and more about whether the plug-in hardware, brakes, and hybrid components have been maintained well.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Fusion Energi?

At 73.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or shows uneven wear. Pay close attention to the condition of the hybrid system, brakes, tires, and interior electronics, since those are the areas most likely to affect ownership costs and day-to-day usability.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE Luxury starts with LED lighting, keyless ignition and entry with remote start, leather, heated mirrors with auto dimming, rear parking sensors, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Sync 3. The Titanium adds sport heated and ventilated front seats, full 8-way power for the passenger, ambient interior lighting, and a 12-speaker Sony stereo with HD Radio. The Platinum adds upgraded leather and additional leather trim across the dash and doors, plus more available luxury and driver-assistance equipment.
• Powertrain: The plug-in hybrid setup can travel up to 22 miles on electric power alone, and the gasoline engine takes over smoothly when needed. The review notes that electric-only acceleration is slow, while hybrid-mode acceleration is much better, and the extra weight affects braking and handling.
• Safety package: The Driver Assist package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and assist, auto high beams and wipers, and a heated steering wheel. On the Platinum, the steering wheel gains power adjust as well. Some of the more advanced safety equipment is optional on lower trims.
• Infotainment: Sync 3 is standard, and the cabin uses an 8-inch touchscreen with large buttons and quick response. The optional 12-speaker Sony stereo is also highlighted, and the system supports easy phone pairing.
• Fuel efficiency: The car is rated at 42 combined mpg, and the review says it can go weeks between gas fill-ups if your commute is short. Charging takes around 7 hours on a standard outlet or 3 hours on a 240-volt connection.

Which 2017 Ford Fusion Energi trim should I buy?

The 2017 Ford Fusion Energi is offered in 3 trim levels: SE Luxury, Titanium, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SE Luxury: This is the entry point and already gives you a strong equipment list, including LED lighting, remote start, leather, rear parking sensors, and Sync 3. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model without giving up the core plug-in hybrid experience.
• Titanium: This is the best-value trim because it adds the most appealing comfort upgrades for only a modest step up, including heated and ventilated front seats, a better passenger seat, ambient lighting, and the 12-speaker Sony stereo. It also serves as the trim where the available Driver Assist package becomes especially relevant.
• Platinum: This is the luxury-focused choice, with upgraded leather and more upscale cabin trim, but it asks for a much bigger price jump. You should only move here if you specifically want the richest interior and are comfortable paying for it.

The safety package is available on the Titanium and becomes part of the most complete safety setup when paired with the optional adaptive cruise equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Fusion Energi?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 83 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,725, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Fusion Energi's resale value?

The current average of $10,955 sits slightly below last year's $12,173.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can reduce the hit from further depreciation.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Ford Fusion Energi safe?

The 2017 Ford Fusion Energi is a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the 2017 Fusion earns four-star ratings in frontal crash, five-star ratings in side impact, and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The available Driver Assist package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and assist, auto high beams and wipers, and a heated steering wheel. The strongest safety setup comes from pairing that package with the optional adaptive cruise equipment on the Titanium trim.

One caveat is that the Fusion Energi’s extra weight and eco-friendly tires contribute to longer stopping distances, which is worth keeping in mind if you drive in traffic or wet conditions.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Fusion Energi or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 brings standard LED lighting front and back, a slight redesign inside and out, and a bit more electric range.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of updated features, safety, and current pricing, the 2017 is the one to target. If you’re mainly shopping on price, you can still find value here, but you should compare condition and equipment carefully because the best examples will justify paying a little more.
