The 2017 Ford Taurus stands out as a full-size sedan that still aimed to offer a mix of comfort, space, and available performance near the end of its run. In this generation, Ford positioned it against large sedans such as the Chrysler 300, the Dodge Charger, the Hyundai Azera, and the Toyota Avalon, which helps explain its broad-shouldered, mainstream appeal. It was also one of the few Taurus models that could be had with a range of powertrains, including a standard V6 and an available turbocharged four-cylinder, giving buyers a choice between traditional smoothness and better fuel economy.
For 2017, the 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder remained on the menu, and Ford said it delivered the best fuel economy of any Taurus at the time, with EPA ratings of 22 miles per gallon in the city, 31 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The standard 3.5-liter V6 was rated at 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined for the 2013 model year, and the Taurus SHO continued to be the performance standout with 365 horsepower, 350 lb-ft of torque, and all-wheel drive. The 2013 refresh also brought a new grille and front fascia, an updated suspension, the latest version of Ford’s Sync and MyFordTouch infotainment software, and improved front seats, while the Taurus Limited could be equipped with advanced safety features such as blind-spot warning with cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and collision warning with brake support.
At the same time, the Taurus had some drawbacks that kept it from feeling fully modern. Ford’s own pros and cons list calls out pedestrian performance from non-SHO models and outdated technology, and owner feedback echoes concerns about cramped interior space and awkward touchscreen controls. Even so, the 2017 Ford Taurus remained appealing for shoppers who wanted a spacious, comfortable sedan with available all-wheel drive and a genuine performance version in the SHO.

This Taurus SHO drives incredible with the 365 hp and 350 torque biturbo engine. You could say that a Ford Expedition handles comfortably, compare it to the sporty fury of a Ford Mustang. No matter how close or far you drive, its comfort is incredible.
