Used 2017 Toyota Yaris iA for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2017 Toyota Yaris iA cost?

Prices have softened 2.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 153 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Toyota Yaris iA a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Yaris iA earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

It stands out as a tiny, inexpensive sedan that feels more refined and responsive than its size and price might suggest. The overview also frames it as a small, affordable Toyota with a distinctly Mazda-derived character, which helps explain why it feels more polished than you might expect from a bargain subcompact.

The model’s 32.7% good and great deal share suggests there are still attractive listings in the market.

Is the 2017 Toyota Yaris iA reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The car is presented as a practical, cheap set of wheels that should last long enough to make ownership worthwhile, and the expert review emphasizes that it is more than just a bargain. Its standard low-speed automatic emergency braking and reversing camera also add useful everyday protection.

The powertrain is described as smooth-revving and lively enough for around-town use, with the automatic returning 35 mpg in combined driving and the manual expected to do 34 mpg. Toyota’s offer of free scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles is another ownership perk that helps reduce early running costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the car has been maintained well, since a low-cost car only stays cheap if prior ownership hasn’t left you with deferred repairs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Yaris iA?

At 53.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can confirm the car’s structure, repairs, and maintenance history. Focus especially on condition consistency, because a low-priced car can hide expensive problems if it has been repaired poorly or neglected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is described as surprisingly upscale for the price, with refined plastics, fabric door-panel inserts, blue exposed stitching, soft-touch dashboard trim, and a freestanding infotainment display. The base setup is still fairly stripped down in terms of convenience and passenger space, so make sure the equipment level matches what you want.
• Powertrain: The car uses a Mazda-sourced 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a standard 6-speed manual or optional 6-speed automatic. The engine is smooth-revving and the car feels lively around town, but it can feel short on power when merging or passing.
• Safety package: A reversing camera and low-speed automatic emergency braking are standard. The car also earns a 5-star rating from the federal government and a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
• Infotainment: The car has a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, dual USB ports, and an auxiliary audio input jack. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered, and navigation is unavailable.
• Fuel efficiency: The manual is expected to return 34 mpg in combined driving, while the automatic should return 35 mpg.

Which 2017 Toyota Yaris iA trim should I buy?

The 2017 Toyota Yaris iA is offered in 1 trim level: Yaris iA.

Here's the short version:

The Yaris iA trim gives you the core package, including the 7-inch touchscreen, reversing camera, Bluetooth, dual USB ports, remote keyless entry with push-button start, and the standard safety equipment. Since there is only one trim, your decision is mostly about transmission choice and finding the cleanest, best-maintained example at the right price.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to climb the trim ladder to get the key driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Yaris iA?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 153 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.92% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,820, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Yaris iA's resale value?

The current average of $11,541 sits slightly below last year's $11,888.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help limit how much value you lose if you buy at the right price. For a future seller, the current market indicates that clean, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones, especially because the car’s bargain positioning still appeals to budget-conscious shoppers.

The combination of a lower average price and steady shopper interest can support resale demand, but condition will matter a lot when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Toyota Yaris iA safe?

The 2017 Toyota Yaris iA earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a five-star rating from the federal government.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

A reversing camera and low-speed automatic emergency braking are standard, which gives the car a useful layer of preventative safety. The review also notes that Toyota does not offer Safety Connect or parent-programmable driver-monitoring features for this car.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Yaris iA or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says the Yaris iA is more than just a bargain and calls it the best subcompact sedan you can buy.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, refinement, and low running costs, the 2017 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, shop carefully for the cleanest example you can find and prioritize condition over mileage alone.

How does the 2017 Toyota Yaris iA compare to the 2017 Mazda MAZDA3?

The Yaris iA is the cheaper buy and the more efficient choice in this comparison, while the MAZDA3 brings more power and a broader used-car market.
