Used 2017 Volkswagen Golf for Sale nearPhoenix, AZ

How much does the 2017 Volkswagen Golf cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 205 listings available, which gives you a workable amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Golf a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the 2017 Volkswagen Golf backs that up with a mix of performance and everyday usability. The overview points to a compact hatchback that delivers serious pace without giving up practicality, along with a relatively upscale feel and a long list of standard equipment. It also highlights a package aimed at buyers who want strong all-around capability rather than a stripped-down performance car.

That makes it a good fit if you want a hot hatch that feels well equipped and versatile enough for daily driving. The market also shows 30.7% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Golf reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes the model as having a solid reputation for desirability and value retention, which supports confidence in ownership. It also notes that you should pay close attention to maintenance history and signs of wear, especially on higher-mileage examples.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is buying a car that has been neglected or heavily worn, so condition and service records matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Volkswagen Golf?

At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear items, maintenance quality, and any signs of deferred upkeep.

Because this model is positioned as a performance-oriented hatchback, pay close attention to how the car has been driven and maintained rather than just the odometer reading.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volkswagen Golf?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 205 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,243, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volkswagen Golf's resale value?

The current average of $12,211 sits slightly below last year's $12,334.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable, which is helpful if you plan to sell later because it points to predictable pricing rather than sharp swings. A steady price trend can make it easier to estimate your future trade-in or private-party value.

The model’s strong desirability and value-retention reputation also support resale confidence. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volkswagen Golf or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a well-equipped, performance-focused hatchback with stable pricing and strong owner approval, the 2017 is the primary year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the same need for careful history and condition checks.
