How much does the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander cost?

Prices have softened 3.22% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 307 listings available, which gives you a modest pool of options to compare.

Is the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander earns 4.5/5 from users and 6.67/10 from experts. The model scores 8/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

The Outlander is strongest if you want modern connectivity and driver-assistance features in a vehicle that still offers practical family utility. Its age shows in the interior and ride quality, but the available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto help it stay relevant for shoppers who value smartphone integration and useful tech over polish.

30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outlander’s appeal is reinforced by its practical setup and its strong warranty coverage, which helps offset some of the concerns that come with an older platform. Expert testing also points to a vehicle that prioritizes useful features and value over refinement, so you should expect a straightforward ownership experience rather than a premium one.

Its 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty is a meaningful ownership cushion for used buyers, but you should still pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition because age and mileage will matter more here than on newer rivals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander?

At 62.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Focus on how the cabin, electronics, and driver-assistance features function, since the Outlander’s value proposition depends heavily on the equipment working as intended. If you’re comparing trims, make sure the listing actually includes the features you want rather than assuming they’re standard.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The ES comes with 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped shift knob, a 7-inch touch screen display, HD radio, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, remote keyless entry, and dual-zone climate control. The SE adds fog lights, color-keyed side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a power sunroof, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LE adds black exterior accents, power-folding side mirrors, black roof rails, black-painted wheels, a black headliner and pillars, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. The SEL adds rain-sensing wipers, auto on-off headlights, chrome exterior accents, silver roof rails, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, a power liftgate, leather seating, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The GT adds LED headlights, LED fog lights, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and a power sunroof.
• Powertrain: Most trims use a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 166 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The GT uses a 3.0-liter V6 with 224 hp and 215 lb-ft, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters. The four-cylinder setup is described as underpowered, while the V6 is the stronger choice if you want more passing confidence.
• Safety package: Standard safety features include a reversing camera, a full array of airbags, traction control, tire pressure monitoring system, hill-start assist, and active stability control. The SEL Touring Package adds forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. The GT Touring package adds the same driver-assistance features.
• Infotainment: The base setup includes a 7-inch touch screen display, HD radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are added on the SE, and the system is described as a smart fit for shoppers who want modern smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine with front-wheel drive is rated at 25 mpg city, 30 highway, and 27 combined. The all-wheel-drive version is rated one mpg lower in each category. The GT V6 is estimated at 20 mpg city, 27 highway, and 22 combined.

Which 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander trim should I buy?

The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander is offered in 5 trim levels: ES, SE, LE, SEL, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• ES: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Outlander experience at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the basics and plan to keep the budget tight, but you’ll miss out on the more desirable connectivity and convenience upgrades found higher up.
• SE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with heated front seats, a power sunroof, fog lights, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. If you want the Outlander’s modern tech without stretching too far, this is the trim to target.
• LE: This trim is mainly about appearance and added confidence features, with blacked-out exterior details, power-folding mirrors, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. It suits you if you want a more distinctive look and extra driver awareness features.
• SEL: This is the more upscale choice, adding leather seating, a power liftgate, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, rain-sensing wipers, and auto on-off headlights. It’s the right pick if you want a more complete family SUV feel and are willing to pay for convenience.
• GT: This is the top trim and the only one with the V6, so it’s the one to choose if you want the strongest powertrain and the most premium equipment. It’s the least budget-friendly option, but it delivers the most capability and the most upscale feature set.

The SEL Touring Package adds forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams, so it’s worth seeking out if safety tech matters to you.

What is the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander's resale value?

The current average of $11,031 sits slightly below last year's $11,399.

That decline suggests the Outlander is still moving in a buyer-friendly direction, which can make it easier for future sellers to stay competitive on price. If you own one, you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than on broad market momentum alone. Well-equipped trims with desirable tech and safety features should be easier to position than stripped-down examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Standard safety equipment includes a reversing camera, a full array of airbags, traction control, tire pressure monitoring system, hill-start assist, and active stability control. If you want the more advanced driver-assistance suite, look for the SEL Touring Package or GT Touring package, which add forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams.

Should I buy a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 stands out for its up-to-date driver-assistance and infotainment technology, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, even though it rides on an older platform.

The bottom line: If you want the Outlander’s strongest mix of value, modern tech, and available safety features, the 2018 is a sensible choice. If you’re shopping primarily on price, you can still find attractive listings, but you should be selective about condition and equipment. For buyers who want the most comfort and refinement, a newer year may be worth considering; for buyers who want the best deal on this generation, the 2018 remains a practical target.
