Why it stands out
The 2019 Acura MDX sets itself apart as a reliable midsize luxury SUV known for its spacious interior, smooth ride, and powerful performance provided by its 290-horsepower V6 engine. The introduction of the A-Spec Package adds a sporty edge, enhanced aesthetics, and upgraded technology, appealing to those looking for a blend of functionality and style. This model also boasts significant safety ratings and features, making it a solid choice for families. While it excels in many areas, some critics have pointed out that the technology interface can be tricky to use, and the interior might not compete with more upscale rivals. Beautiful car, well appointed, very reliable. Acura is wonderful match of luxury and agility, and the MDX is the SUV that handles like a luxury sport sedan. T

This is our 3rd MDX. We know the brand (also had 3 cars) so we know what to expect. The advanced package has all the features as standard that would be adders on comparable SUV’s. Try finding standard ventilated seats as an example. With the MDX you don’t have to compromise on features. As far as the ride, it’s smooth and with the tight steering common on Hondas which makes it easy to navigate corners and turns. The road noise is a bit louder than I’d like but I plan to change tires to alleviate some of that. I think Michelins are best. The new model has the pop up LCD screen which is nicer as you have to really stare at the screen to manage on the 2019. I would prefer the heat and cooled seat buttons were back on the console instead of the touch screen. But you can set to auto and forget it. I love the surround camera which helps with parking and safety. Being 5’4 I always want to know I’m perfectly between the lines. The captain chairs on the 2nd row are a plus because you have the same layout as the front seats and you can now see straight through. The new model has the removable middle seat but you lose the console. Cargo space is a big seller for me and I compared this with the Lexus RX 350L and 450L which have the extended length and 7 seats. No comparison. They just chop off cargo space and tell you to lower your middle seats which defeats the point. This MDX can carry 4 adults and still have room for luggage and more. Lane keep assist takes getting used too. Bad roads with multiple lines confuses it so you have to be alert or it takes control. Entertainment info is hard to see over the steering wheel and needs improvement. Otherwise you have to memorize the options. On my 2015 Accord, the LCD was very clear and I could easily navigate through the source and channels. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would buy again.
