How much does the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 9.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,755 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Generally — your 4.39/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert score is 6.67/10. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners repeatedly praise the smooth ride, spacious interior, and extensive features. They also highlight its value and performance compared with competitors, which fits the Grand Cherokee’s appeal as an SUV that can handle daily driving while still offering capability.

The overview also frames it as a vehicle that works well on pavement and off it, so you’re looking at a model that tries to balance everyday usability with a more adventurous personality. That broad usefulness is a big part of why it remains appealing.

33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.39/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because they describe it as smooth, spacious, and well equipped. That kind of feedback usually lines up with a model people feel they can count on for regular use.

The expert review also describes the Grand Cherokee as easy to drive in daily use, which supports the idea that it can be a dependable companion rather than just a weekend toy. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to versions that deliver a lot of capability for the money, which can matter when you’re thinking about ownership over the long haul.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that condition and maintenance history matter a lot, especially on higher-mileage examples or more heavily equipped trims.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 65% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection of body panels, interior wear, and any signs of prior repair quality. Because this model can be bought in many configurations, it also makes sense to focus on how the specific example was equipped and maintained rather than assuming all Grand Cherokees are the same.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans from the Laredo to higher-priced versions like Limited X, Summit, SRT, and Trackhawk. The Laredo starts with a 7-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add more upscale materials, stronger audio systems, and more premium equipment. The Limited X stands out as a value-oriented blend of style, equipment, and capability.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 3.6-liter V6 with 295 horsepower, with upgrades to a 360-hp 5.7-liter V8, a 425-hp 6.4-liter V8 in the SRT, or the Trackhawk’s 707-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V8. Fuel economy is described as mediocre, and 4WD adds capability but also reduces efficiency.
• Safety package: The Advanced Active Safety Group adds parking assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers. Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also part of the safety picture.
• Infotainment: The Laredo gets a 7-inch touchscreen. Jeep’s Uconnect system is standard on all other trims and adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, voice recognition, and navigation. Higher trims can also bring upgraded audio systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the Grand Cherokee averaged 18.3 mpg on a testing loop and 17.4 mpg in city-heavy driving after more than 500 miles. It also notes a combined driving rating of 21 mpg.

Which 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 12 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited X, Trailhawk, Summit, Trackhawk, and the additional trim levels referenced in the lineup description.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, and it gives you the basic Grand Cherokee experience with the 7-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting point, but you’ll want to compare it carefully against better-equipped trims because some features are reserved for higher versions.
• Limited X: This is the best-value trim. It adds distinctive styling, upgraded exterior details, special leather seating, and a more premium feel without jumping all the way to luxury or performance territory. The expert review specifically calls it the version that best represents where value, style, equipment, and capability intersect.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if you care most about off-road capability. The content identifies it as the trim focused on improved off-roading, so it’s the one to target if trail use matters more than luxury touches.
• Summit: This is the luxury-oriented choice. It’s the trim to consider if you want a more upscale Grand Cherokee with premium materials and a higher-end feel.
• Trackhawk: This is the outrageous performance model. With its 707-horsepower setup, it sits at the top of the range for buyers who want maximum power and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that the Advanced Active Safety Group adds several useful driver-assistance features, but crash-test concerns remain a major consideration regardless of trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,755 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.96% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,132, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $18,132 sits slightly below last year's $20,138.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to protect value later.

The model’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand over time. Still, resale will depend heavily on trim, mileage, condition, and whether the vehicle has a clean history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.39/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a Marginal rating for small-overlap frontal-impact protection for the driver and a Poor rating for small-overlap frontal-impact protection for the front passenger from IIHS. It also earns three-star rollover resistance ratings from the federal government on rear-drive versions.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content highlights standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, plus available semi-autonomous parallel and perpendicular parking assistance. The Advanced Active Safety Group adds parking assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers.

The main caveat is that crash protection is a weak point for this model year, so you should weigh the available driver-assistance tech against the underlying crash-test results.

Should I buy a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.39/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The expert review emphasizes that it works well both on pavement and off it, while still being easy to drive daily.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,303, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $18,132 average.
• It adds a broader sense of freshness and remains a versatile five-passenger midsize SUV.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the cleaner alternative, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2019 and shop carefully for condition and history.
