Used 2020 Dodge Challenger for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2020 Dodge Challenger cost?

Prices have softened 5.16% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,113 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Dodge Challenger a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Dodge Challenger earns a 4.85/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, stylish looks, and comfortable ride. Owners also highlight the handling and responsiveness of the engine, the spacious interior, and the unique design.

The trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard, and the styling may be polarizing. For you, that means the Challenger makes the most sense if you want a coupe with character, strong straight-line appeal, and a more emotional ownership experience than a mainstream commuter.

Only 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2020 Dodge Challenger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.85/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Driver feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with praise for the car’s trouble-free feel, strong performance over time, and the kind of character owners feel confident living with.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Challenger is built around current automotive technology while remaining a serious modern muscle car, which supports its long-term appeal. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic satisfaction and more about how previous owners treated a performance coupe with high-output variants.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Dodge Challenger?

At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-performance trim or a car with modified-looking equipment. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and signs of hard use, since this model’s appeal often overlaps with enthusiastic ownership.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SXT starts with 18-inch aluminum wheels, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The GT adds 20-inch wheels, a hood scoop, remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, and houndstooth cloth seats. The R/T Scat Pack adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen. The GT and R/T also can be had with a 50th Anniversary package. The base trim is the most stripped-down choice, so you should compare it carefully against the GT if you want more convenience features.
• Powertrain: The SXT and GT use a 3.6-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque, with rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The R/T uses a 5.7-liter Hemi V8, and the R/T Scat Pack steps up to a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. The Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye variants push output much higher, with rear-wheel-drive performance focused on acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, supplemental side curtain airbags, traction control, brake assist, and a child-seat anchoring system. The optional technology group adds forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control. Other available features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path alert, and ParkSense reverse sensing. Advanced safety features are not standard, so you should check carefully for the equipment you want.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The available Uconnect 8.4 adds a larger screen and Garmin-based navigation with real-time traffic updates. Wireless smartphone integration and OTA capability are not stated.
• Fuel efficiency: The base V6 with rear-wheel drive returns 19 mpg city, 30 highway, 23 combined. The V6 with AWD returns 18 mpg city, 27 highway, 21 combined. The 5.7-liter V8 with the 8-speed automatic returns 16 mpg city, 25 highway, 19 combined. The SRT Hellcat Redeye returns 13 mpg city, 21 highway, 15 combined.

Which 2020 Dodge Challenger trim should I buy?

The 2020 Dodge Challenger is offered in 9 trim levels: SXT, GT, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, R/T Scat Pack Widebody, SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Widebody, SRT Hellcat Redeye, and SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Challenger’s core personality with 18-inch wheels, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, and the 7-inch touchscreen. If you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup, this is the trim to start with.
• GT: This adds 20-inch wheels, remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, and a more distinctive look. It is the better-value choice if you want more style and convenience without jumping into V8 pricing.
• R/T: This is where the V8 experience begins, with a 5.7-liter Hemi and performance upgrades including an active exhaust system. If engine character matters most, this is the trim that makes the Challenger feel properly muscular.
• R/T Scat Pack: This is the best-value performance trim, with the 6.4-liter Hemi V8, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen. It gives you the strongest mix of power and everyday equipment.
• R/T Scat Pack Widebody: Choose this if you want the Scat Pack’s performance with wider tires, flared fenders, and a wider track for a more aggressive stance and sharper cornering feel.
• SRT Hellcat: This trim brings supercharged V8 power and the kind of acceleration that defines the top end of the lineup. It suits you if outright speed matters more than value.
• SRT Hellcat Widebody: This adds the wider-body hardware to the Hellcat formula, making it the better pick if you want maximum grip and a more planted feel.
• SRT Hellcat Redeye: This is the extreme straight-line choice, with even more power than the standard Hellcat and an automatic-only setup.
• SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody: This is the most serious version of the Challenger lineup, combining the Redeye’s output with the wider stance and tire package.

The optional technology group adds forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control, so check for that package if safety tech matters to you.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,113 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.16% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,587, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Dodge Challenger's resale value?

The current average of $28,893 sits slightly below last year's $30,464.

That softer pricing can help you buy more car for the money today, but it also means future resale may depend heavily on how well you maintain the vehicle and which trim you choose. Higher-performance versions can hold interest with enthusiasts, but condition and originality will matter a lot when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.85/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Dodge Challenger safe?

The 2020 Dodge Challenger earns a Marginal overall score from IIHS and four out of five stars in front driver’s side crash testing by NHTSA. It earns five-star ratings for front passenger side testing and four-star ratings for rollover testing, and it has not been evaluated in side-impact testing.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include front- and side-impact airbags, supplemental side curtain airbags, traction control, brake assist, and a child-seat anchoring system. The optional technology group adds forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path alert, and ParkSense reverse sensing are also available.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should verify the equipment on any used example you are considering.

Should I buy a 2020 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.85/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 adds new colors, extra interior choices, and a 50th Anniversary package for some trims.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $31,492, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $28,893 average.
• It leans harder into straight-line speed and high-tech performance.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2021 is the path for buyers who want the Challenger’s performance-first personality with a slightly more focused character.
