Used 2021 Jeep Cherokee for Sale nearDetroit, MI

How much does the 2021 Jeep Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 10.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,246 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Jeep Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Cherokee earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its great value, smooth ride, and numerous safety features, and many also call out the advanced technology and off-road capability. The Cherokee’s use-case is strongest if you want a Jeep-branded SUV with a broad mix of comfort, capability, and modern features rather than a pure style statement.

The main trade-offs are its polarizing design, underwhelming base engine, and limited cargo space. Even so, the market shows 33.9% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Jeep Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers highlighting smooth ride quality, strong value, and a generally trouble-free impression. The expert evaluation also describes the Cherokee as a vehicle that can do a lot more than you’d expect, which supports the idea that it delivers useful capability over the long haul.

The nine-speed automatic is described as capable and fuel-saving, which is a positive sign for everyday dependability. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that condition and maintenance history matter a lot, especially on examples that have seen harder use or were bought for their capability rather than their comfort.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Cherokee?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, because accident-free status is only a starting point. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, electronics, and suspension, and pay close attention to how the vehicle presents inside and out, since condition can vary a lot from one used Cherokee to another.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry-level Latitude with 17-inch wheels and front-wheel drive looks and feels more basic, while the 80th Anniversary Edition adds 19-inch Granite Crystal wheels and painted lower body cladding for a more upscale appearance. The panoramic sunroof is another notable feature to look for if you want a more premium feel.
• Powertrain: You’re looking at a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower on Latitude and Latitude Plus, a 3.2-liter V-6 with 271 hp, or a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 270 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque. The turbo engine is optional on Latitude Lux and Limited, and the nine-speed automatic is standard across the lineup.
• Safety package: Lane departure warning with lane keep assist, full-speed forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring are standard on every trim level. Adaptive cruise control with stop and go is limited to the Limited and Trailhawk, and it is also part of an option package on the Trailhawk.
• Infotainment: The Cherokee uses Uconnect with a 7-inch touchscreen on Latitude, Latitude Plus, and Latitude Lux, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen on Limited and Trailhawk. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wired, and the Cherokee also offers a 4G WiFi hotspot, Amazon Alexa integration, and remote start.
• Fuel efficiency: The Cherokee is rated at up to 31 mpg highway with front-wheel drive and the optional 2.0-liter turbo engine. AWD models with the base 2.4-liter engine are rated at 29 mpg highway, 21 mpg city, and 24 mpg combined, while AWD V-6 models with Active Drive II return 21 mpg combined and 18 mpg city.

Which 2021 Jeep Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee is offered in 5 trim levels: Latitude, Latitude Plus, Latitude Lux, Limited, Trailhawk.

Here's the short version:

• Latitude: This is the starting point, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and are comfortable with the more basic look and equipment. It gets the 7-inch Uconnect screen and the standard safety suite, but it is the trim most likely to feel stripped down compared with the others.
• Latitude Plus: This is the better everyday pick if you want a step up from the base model without jumping too far in price. It keeps the same core powertrain and infotainment setup as Latitude, but it should feel like the more balanced choice for shoppers who want value without going all the way to the upper trims.
• Latitude Lux: This is the trim to watch if you want the optional 2.0-liter turbo engine and a more upscale feature mix. It is the best-value choice for shoppers who want stronger performance and a nicer overall feel without paying for the top trims.
• Limited: This is the trim to choose if you want the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen and access to the turbo engine, along with more premium positioning. It also unlocks adaptive cruise control with stop and go, which makes it a strong pick for buyers who want more convenience and safety tech.
• Trailhawk: This is the one to buy if off-road capability matters most. It is the trim most clearly aimed at adventure-minded buyers, and it also gets the larger 8.4-inch screen plus access to adaptive cruise control, though that feature is part of an option package here.

Adaptive cruise control with stop and go is only available on the Limited and Trailhawk, and it is part of an option package on the Trailhawk.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Cherokee?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but still enough variation in condition and pricing that you should compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,246 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,817, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $18,817 sits slightly below last year's $20,926.

That decline suggests the Cherokee has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your position when it comes time to sell.

The market still shows meaningful demand, especially for shoppers who want Jeep branding, available capability, and a well-equipped cabin. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Cherokee safe?

The Cherokee did not earn a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS. The Cherokee earns a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Cherokee comes standard with lane departure warning with lane keep assist, full-speed forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring on every trim level. Adaptive cruise control with stop and go is reserved for the Limited and Trailhawk, and it is also part of an option package on the Trailhawk.

The main caveat is the headlight performance: upper trims received an Acceptable rating, while the rest received a Marginal rating. That makes trim choice important if safety equipment and nighttime visibility are high priorities for you.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out for its impressive, easy-to-use technology and broad mix of comfort, capability, and modern features.

The bottom line: The 2021 Cherokee is the right move if you want a used Jeep SUV with strong tech, solid owner satisfaction, and a market that currently favors shoppers. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still find value in the broader Cherokee market, but the 2021 is the better pick when you want the strongest blend of features, satisfaction, and current pricing.
