2022 Kia Forte
LXS FWD
25,581 mi
$17,988
Overview

The Kia Forte was completely redesigned for the 2019 model year, and it carries over into 2021 largely unchanged.
With its five available trims, Kia’s compact sedan really spans the range from economy to enthusiast vehicle. The base trim, FE, is shortest on frills but most affordable. LXS is a little more refined and adds some creature comforts. The GT-Line model gets sportier and gains some premium features, EX is the highest-end version in terms of luxury appointments, and GT is the real driver’s car.
The Kia Forte lineup comprises two different engines: a 2.0-liter inline-four that makes 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque is standard on FE, LXS, GT-Line, and EX trims, while a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four that makes 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque is standard on the top-of-the-line, performance-focused GT trim. Engine upgrades are not available for 2021.
Kia acknowledges the dichotomy of the stick-shift by making the 6-speed manual transmission standard on the FE, for cost savings, and optional on the GT, for a sporty driving experience. (Standard for the GT is a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission which is only available for this trim.) Kia’s i-VT continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard on LXS, GT-Line, and EX trims, and it’s an available upgrade for FE.
Each Kia Forte trim has a dedicated wheel style. While every other trim gets alloy wheels, the base FE gets 15-inch steel wheels with hubcaps, no doubt as a further cost-saving measure. LXS Fortes get 16-inch machine-finish alloy wheels, GT-Line models’ wheels are 17 inches with a graphite finish, EXS trims’ are 17 inches with a machine finish, and GT trims’ are 18 inches with a machine-finish.
Variations continue inside. FE and LXS trims get cloth seats, while Kia adds leatherette side bolsters and contrast stitching for GT-Line and EXS. Forte GTs get artificial leather seats. A 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support is optional on GT-Line and GT and standard on EX. Heated and ventilated front seats are standard on EX and optional on GT. FE does not get the 60/40-split folding rear seats, but every other trim does. Dual-zone climate control is standard on the EX trim only.
The gearshift knob in the sportier GT-Line and GT trims is leather-wrapped, an upgrade over the PVC version found in other trims. A leather-wrapped steering wheel is standard in the top three trims, and for GT and GT-Line, it is sportily styled with a flat bottom.
An 8-inch touchscreen display with rear-view camera is standard in all Kia Fortes. A version that includes satellite radio and Kia’s UVO infotainment system is optional on GT-Line and standard on GT, and a version with HD Radio and Kia’s top-of-the-line UVO Link system, which includes navigation, is standard on EX. A 4-speaker sound system is standard on FE and LXS while a 6-speaker system is standard on GT-Line and up. An 8-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system is available as an optional upgrade for GT-Line and up.
Forward-collision warning, forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and driver-attention warning are all standard on every 2021 Kia Forte. Lane-change assist, blind-spot collision warning, and rear cross-traffic collision warning are standard on GT-Line trims and up (though some features are not compatible with the manual transmission that can be optioned on the GT trim). High-beam assist is standard for GT-Line, and parking distance warning – reverse, and smart cruise control are available options for that trim only.
The 2021 Kia Forte FE starts at $17,890. The LXS is priced from $19,390, GT-Line from $20,490, and EX from $23,090, and the range-topping Kia Forte GT starts at $22,790.

Prices have softened 5.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
With 1,575 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $14,125.30, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 Kia Forte a good car?
Yes — the 4.67/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its value, fuel efficiency, and modern technology features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Many also like its safety ratings and the fact that it is fun to drive. With 25.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Kia Forte reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with praise for value, fuel efficiency, and technology that works well over time. That kind of repeat satisfaction usually matters most when you want a used car you can count on for regular commuting and ownership without a lot of drama.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about choosing a poorly maintained example, so condition and service history should guide your decision.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Kia Forte?
At 68.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of inconsistent repairs rather than relying on photos alone.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Kia Forte?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a standout bargain.
- Deal availability: 25.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,575 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.69% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 68.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,125.30, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Kia Forte's resale value?
The current average of $14,383 sits slightly below last year's $15,251.
That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also suggests future sellers may need to stay realistic on asking price. If you buy at the right number and keep the car in strong condition, you reduce the chance of taking a bigger hit later. The model’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, even if the market remains price-sensitive.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2021 Kia Forte or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 25.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 68.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.69% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $12,901, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $14,383 average.
- It offers strong value, roomy packaging, and an engaging GT option.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $17,345, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $14,383 average.
- It adds sharper styling and updated infotainment and driver-assist tech.
The bottom line: The 2021 is the best all-around pick if you want a balanced mix of price, owner satisfaction, and shopping flexibility. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the better value play. If you want newer features and can stretch your budget, the 2022 is the more modern choice.
