Used 2021 Polestar 2 for SaleNationwide

Is the 2021 Polestar 2 a good car?

The 2021 Polestar 2 earns a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

It comes across as a smartly designed electric car with Volvo-based styling, a quiet cabin, and standard all-wheel drive that gives it a substantial feel. It is best suited to you if you value polished basics and standard traction more than cutting-edge interface speed or long-distance range.

The trade-offs are clear: the design may be polarizing, the electric range is unimpressive, and the touchscreen response is sluggish. Even so, the market signal is fairly healthy, with 39.3% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2021 Polestar 2 reliable?

The 2021 Polestar 2 is built on Volvo’s vehicle platforms and safety technology, which gives it a familiar engineering foundation. It also uses a dual-motor electric setup, and the expert evaluation describes it as a complete car rather than a novelty EV.

From a durability standpoint, the performance notes point to a conventional EV ownership pattern: fewer regular maintenance needs than a gasoline vehicle, plus home charging as the practical default for daily use. Polestar also says the battery and crash structures are designed specifically for EV use, including protection around the battery pack.

If you buy used, your long-term risk is less about routine mechanical wear and more about battery condition, charging history, and how well the car has been maintained and updated.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Polestar 2?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, and focus on overall condition rather than just mileage. On an EV like this, battery health and charging behavior matter as much as cosmetic wear, so make sure the car has been used and charged in a way that fits your ownership plans.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Launch Edition is the fully loaded starting point, so you should check whether the car has the standard equipment you want and whether it includes the optional Performance Pack, Nappa leather upholstery, 20-inch wheels, or extra-cost paint.
• Powertrain: The car uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with 408 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque, and it is quick enough to reach 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The performance setup emphasizes strong acceleration and a planted feel.
• Safety package: Volvo Pilot Assist is standard, combining adaptive cruise control with automated lane centering. Standard features also include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, automatic emergency braking with vehicle, pedestrian, and cyclist detection, run-off-road mitigation, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes an 11.1-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Android Auto, and basic Bluetooth. Apple CarPlay is added through an over-the-air update, and a Digital Key feature is also planned through OTA.
• Range & charging: The battery pack is 78 kilowatt-hours with 75 kWh of usable capacity. Polestar says the car can do more than 200 miles of range, and DC fast charging goes up to 150 kW, with an 80% recharge in 40 minutes.
• Battery health: Ask for battery state-of-health information, review the car’s charging habits, and confirm whether it has mostly been charged at home or relied heavily on DC fast charging. You should also check how much of the battery warranty remains.

Which 2021 Polestar 2 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Polestar 2 is offered in 1 trim level: Launch Edition.

Here's the short version:

The Launch Edition is the trim to buy if you want the full standard package from the start, including dual-motor AWD, the long list of driver-assistance features, and the 11.1-inch infotainment system. It is the best-value choice here because there is only one trim, and the main decision is whether you want the optional Performance Pack, Nappa leather upholstery, or other extras.

The standard safety package is already comprehensive, so you do not need to move up a trim to get the core driver-assistance tech.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Polestar 2?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a flood of bargains.

• Deal availability: 39.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 135 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 87.4% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2021 Polestar 2 safe?

The 2021 Polestar 2 does not have published IIHS or NHTSA crash-test ratings yet.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Polestar says the car includes EV-specific crash structures designed around the lack of an engine ahead of the passenger compartment, plus protective structures around the battery pack. Standard driver-assistance equipment includes Volvo Pilot Assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, automatic emergency braking with vehicle, pedestrian, and cyclist detection, run-off-road mitigation, and rear cross-traffic alert.

A key caveat is that Pilot Assist does not handle automated lane changes.

Should I buy a 2021 Polestar 2 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 39.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• It is Polestar’s first mass-market model, with Volvo-based safety tech and a standard dual-motor AWD setup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• It pushes harder into the luxury EV market with a more premium, competitive positioning.

The bottom line: If you want the earliest Polestar 2 with standard AWD, strong safety tech, and a more established used-market price spread, the 2021 is the sensible pick. If you care more about a newer-year positioning and are willing to shop accordingly, the 2022 is the alternative to compare. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2021 remains the better starting point.
