Overview

The Ford Edge’s time on sale is coming to an end after 2023. Despite its success selling SUVs in all shapes and sizes, Ford is cutting the cord on the Edge to make more room for the Bronco, the Explorer, and the smaller vehicles in its lineup. Though it’s leaving the Ford catalog soon, the Edge gets a few notable changes for 2022 that help it remain relevant in the face of stronger, newer competition.
Ford offers the 2022 Edge in several trims, including SE, SEL, ST-Line, Titanium, and ST. Most trims come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder that makes 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. The top ST model gets a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that produces 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. The four-cylinder comes paired with an eight-speed automatic, and the V6 gets a seven-speed. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard and all-wheel drive (AWD) is available.
Most people will be happy with the power and acceleration offered by the Edge’s base engine, but the V6 is notably more powerful. The ST model rockets off the line with more power than expected, and it provides stable handling when asked. Some rivals, such as the Mazda CX-9, offer a more engaging driving experience, but the Ford is reasonably engaging and plenty quick.
The Edge offers seating for five people in two rows. Cloth upholstery is standard, but top trims offer leather upholstery and nicer finishes. The ST trim comes with leather and synthetic suede upholstery that helps grip and hold passengers in place during spirited driving. Ford offers a panoramic sunroof, all-weather mats, and other accessories for the vehicle.
A 12-inch LCD touchscreen comes standard and offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Voice commands, Bluetooth, app connections, SiriusXM radio, and more come standard with the display. Ford’s Sync infotainment system offers an intuitive and responsive way to interact with the vehicle, and it doesn’t take more than a tap or two to accomplish most tasks.
The 2022 Ford Edge earned a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which included “Good” scores in all crash test categories. The SUV’s headlights earned an “Acceptable” or “Poor” score, depending on the configuration. Vehicle-to-vehicle crash-prevention systems got “Superior” scores, while vehicle-to-pedestrian crash-prevention earned an “Advanced” rating.
Every 2022 Ford Edge comes with Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite of safety technology. The package includes automatic high beams, a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, forward-collision warnings, and lane-keep assist. The SEL, Titanium, and ST trims are available with evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and lane centering.
The 2022 Ford Edge is on sale with a starting price of $37,495 before options, taxes, and destination. The SEL trim starts at $39,345, the ST-Line at $43,100, the Titanium at $43,100, and the ST at $46,485.

How much does the 2022 Ford Edge cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,706 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,706 |
| Year-Round High | $24,624 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $24,621 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.84% |
Prices have softened 11.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 3,684 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2022 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Ford Edge earns a 4.83/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its spaciousness, comfort, and performance, and many also value its reliability and feature content. The main tradeoff in the feedback is fuel economy, which some owners feel falls short of expectations. With 32.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback also points to reliability, with owners describing it as dependable and a vehicle they can count on over time. That kind of praise matters for used buyers because it suggests fewer surprises and more confidence in everyday ownership. For you, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and hasn’t picked up hidden wear.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford Edge?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should start with a history report so you can confirm accident status, title history, and any major red flags. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the condition, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on signs of wear that could affect long-term ownership, since the best buy is usually the cleanest example, not just the cheapest one.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Ford Edge?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,684 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.84% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 84.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,706, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $21,706 sits slightly below last year's $24,621.
That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, buying well below the current average gives you more cushion against depreciation. Strong condition and clean history matter even more when the market has already moved down.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2022 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.84% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $18,946, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $21,706 average.
- It offers a roomy cabin with familiar, practical SUV appeal.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2022 is the better primary target. If your budget is tighter and you’re willing to give up some of the newer-year pricing context, the 2021 is the better value-first alternative.
