About 2022 Ford Edge
The Ford Edge’s time on sale is coming to an end after 2023. Despite its success selling SUVs in all shapes and sizes, Ford is cutting the cord on the Edge to make more room for the Bronco, the Explorer, and the smaller vehicles in its lineup. Though it’s leaving the Ford catalog soon, the Edge gets a few notable changes for 2022 that help it remain relevant in the face of stronger, newer competition. Ford offers the 2022 Edge in several trims, including SE, SEL, ST-Line, Titanium, and ST. Most trims come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder that makes 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. The top ST model gets a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that produces 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. The four-cylinder comes paired with an eight-speed automatic, and the V6 gets a seven-speed. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard and all-wheel drive (AWD) is available. Most people will be happy with the power and acceleration offered by the Edge’s base engine, but the V6 is notably more powerful. The ST model rockets off the line with more power than expected, and it provides stable handling when asked. Some rivals, such as the Mazda CX-9, offer a more engaging driving experience, but the Ford is reasonably engaging and plenty quick. The Edge offers seating for five people in two rows. Cloth upholstery is standard, but top trims offer leather upholstery and nicer finishes. The ST trim comes with leather and synthetic suede upholstery that helps grip and hold passengers in place during spirited driving. Ford offers a panoramic sunroof, all-weather mats, and other accessories for the vehicle. A 12-inch LCD touchscreen comes standard and offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Voice commands, Bluetooth, app connections, SiriusXM radio, and more come standard with the display. Ford’s Sync infotainment system offers an intuitive and responsive way to interact with the vehicle, and it doesn’t take more than a tap or two to accomplish most tasks. The 2022 Ford Edge earned a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which included “Good” scores in all crash test categories. The SUV’s headlights earned an “Acceptable” or “Poor” score, depending on the configuration. Vehicle-to-vehicle crash-prevention systems got “Superior” scores, while vehicle-to-pedestrian crash-prevention earned an “Advanced” rating. Every 2022 Ford Edge comes with Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite of safety technology. The package includes automatic high beams, a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, forward-collision warnings, and lane-keep assist. The SEL, Titanium, and ST trims are available with evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and lane centering. The 2022 Ford Edge is on sale with a starting price of $37,495 before options, taxes, and destination. The SEL trim starts at $39,345, the ST-Line at $43,100, the Titanium at $43,100, and the ST at $46,485.
