How much does the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 11.36% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,491 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.86/5 user rating, and our experts give it an 8/10 overall score. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

Owners repeatedly praise the luxurious feel, the quality of the interior materials, and the strong safety features. The overview also points to impressive technology, multiple powertrain options, and great ride quality as key strengths.

The main trade-offs are a cramped back seat and poor value for money, and the expert drive notes also call out the cost and complexity of some higher-end hardware. That makes it a strong fit if you want a comfortable, capable SUV with upscale touches, but less compelling if you’re focused on maximizing space or minimizing cost.

Good and great deals account for 36.8% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels luxurious and well put together, with praise for the interior materials and safety features. That kind of feedback usually lines up with a vehicle people feel good about living with over time.

The expert drive data also emphasizes the Grand Cherokee’s solid build, refined ride, and broad capability, which supports the impression that it’s engineered to handle regular use with confidence. Jeep Wave adds three complimentary oil changes and tire rotations during the first 36 months of ownership, which is a nice ownership perk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some of the more advanced hardware can be expensive to maintain if it needs repair.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not universal. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you’re considering a higher-trim example with more complex equipment. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the features you want are working as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Laredo is the simplest and most affordable version, while Summit Reserve is the most luxurious; lower trims use a more functional matte-black finish, and higher trims can have glossy controls that are harder to use.
• Powertrain: You can choose rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with V6 and V8 engine options; the V6 is the more efficient choice, while the V8 brings stronger towing and more power.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assist adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance, and Intersection Collision Assist adds front cross-traffic warning at intersections; the system can disconnect on tighter curves.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 is standard, with over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen on most trims; a 10.1-inch screen is available on all but Laredo and standard on Summit and Summit Reserve.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates range from 17 mpg in combined driving with the V8 and 4WD to 21 mpg with the V6 and any drivetrain, and test results reached 21.3 mpg with the V6 and Quadra-Trac I.

Which 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 7 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the value play if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core style and capability without paying for extras, and it still looks and feels more expensive than its price suggests.
• Altitude: Choose this if you want a step up in appearance and equipment while staying close to the lower end of the lineup.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and tech while staying below the luxury-focused upper trims.
• Trailhawk: Pick this if off-road capability is your priority; it gets Quadra-Drive II, an electronic locking rear differential, air suspension, skid plates, and off-road-focused hardware.
• Overland: This is the trim to consider if you want a more upscale feel and access to the more advanced Quadra-Trac II four-wheel-drive system.
• Summit: Choose this if you want a luxury-leaning Grand Cherokee with the larger touchscreen standard and access to Quadra-Drive II.
• Summit Reserve: This is the plushest version, with premium quilted and stitched leather, heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, and the high-end audio system.

The safety package is a strong part of the lineup, but some advanced driver-assistance features are not universal across every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,491 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.36% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,803, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $26,803 sits slightly below last year's $30,236.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, condition, mileage, and equipment.

Higher-demand versions with desirable features and strong presentation should hold up better than basic or heavily worn examples. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in clean condition, you’ll be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep equips it with a broad set of advanced driver-assistance systems, including Intersection Collision Assist and Active Driving Assist. Active Driving Assist adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance, and Jeep says a hands-free version is coming later in the model year.

The structure also uses extensive aluminum and high-strength steel, which is a good sign for crash protection. One caveat is that the system can disconnect on tighter curves, so you still need to stay engaged behind the wheel.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned body, upgraded technology, and strong off-road capability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,402, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $26,803 average.
• It is the last version of the previous generation, which still appeals if you want a familiar two-row SUV.

The 2022 is the better all-around choice if you want the redesign, stronger tech, and a more modern feel. If your main goal is saving money, the 2021 is the smarter path, especially if you find one in clean condition with the equipment you want.
