Used 2022 Mazda CX-9 for Sale nearMilwaukee, WI

How much does the 2022 Mazda CX-9 cost?

Prices have softened 11.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 670 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Mazda CX-9 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Mazda CX-9 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth, comfortable ride, spacious interior, and luxurious-feeling features at a good price. They also like its performance and power for commuting, which fits the CX-9’s near-luxury family-hauler role.

The main trade-offs are a cramped third row and unintuitive technology, so you should expect style and comfort to matter more than maximum practicality. With its three-row layout and upscale character, it makes the most sense if you want a family SUV that feels more premium than many rivals.

The market shows 31.5% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Mazda CX-9 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for the CX-9’s comfort and overall satisfaction over time. The expert evaluation also describes it as having an excellent reputation for reliability and a strong long-term ownership profile.

Mazda’s regular-gas tuning with a clear premium-fuel power bump gives you flexibility, and the brand’s maintenance-friendly ownership approach helps keep day-to-day use straightforward. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about core durability and more about finding a well-kept example with the right service history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mazda CX-9?

At 73.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and interior condition. Because this model is a three-row family SUV, pay close attention to wear in the second and third rows, plus any signs that the technology has been used heavily or feels inconsistent.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin gets more upscale as you move up the lineup, and the base setup is lighter on convenience and luxury features than higher trims.
• Powertrain: All trims use a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a six-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive; regular gas is supported, with more output on premium fuel.
• Safety package: The CX-9 includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and front and rear parking sensors. Carbon Edition and above add a driver attention monitor and reverse automatic emergency braking.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch display, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Mazda Connected Services, and a three-year trial of remote monitoring and vehicle control. Navigation and the head-up display are reserved for higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The current rating is the CX-9's one glaring weakness.

Which 2022 Mazda CX-9 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mazda CX-9 is offered in 6 trim levels: Sport, Touring, Carbon Edition, Grand Touring, Signature, and Touring Plus.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, so it gives you the core CX-9 experience at the lowest price, but you give up some of the convenience and luxury touches that make the SUV feel more upscale.
• Touring: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds meaningful comfort and tech upgrades without jumping all the way to the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• Carbon Edition: This trim adds a more distinctive look and extra equipment, making it a good fit if you want a richer feel and more standard content.
• Grand Touring: This is the right pick if you want a more premium daily driver, since it brings in more advanced tech and convenience features.
• Signature: This is the most luxurious version, with the richest materials and the fullest feature set for buyers who want the CX-9 to feel closest to a premium SUV.
• Touring Plus: This trim sits in the middle of the lineup and is a sensible step up if you want more equipment than the Touring without going all the way to the top.

Carbon Edition and above add a driver attention monitor and reverse automatic emergency braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mazda CX-9?

• Inventory: There are 670 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.65% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,084, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $24,084 sits slightly below last year's $27,259.

That decline suggests the CX-9 has become more affordable for buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For future sellers, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, especially if you want to stand out in a market with plenty of inventory.

The CX-9’s upscale feel and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time, even as prices have eased. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment are likely to hold their appeal better than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mazda CX-9 safe?

The 2022 Mazda CX-9 received a Top Safety Pick + rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it also received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The CX-9 comes standard with blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and a full complement of airbags. Carbon Edition and above add a driver attention monitor and reverse automatic emergency braking.

That combination makes it a strong safety choice for a three-row family SUV, especially if you want a model with both strong crash-test results and a long standard safety list.

Should I buy a 2022 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 keeps the CX-9’s upscale feel, strong safety ratings, and standard all-wheel drive in a refined three-row package.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,241, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $24,084 average.
• It offers a refined, premium-feeling cabin with strong owner praise for comfort and handling.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, safety, and upscale character, the 2022 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the better budget-friendly alternative, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
