How much does the 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class cost?

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class a good car?

Generally — the 4/5 user rating suggests you can expect a favorable ownership experience. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is positioned as a modern, performance-focused roadster with a V8, standard all-wheel drive, a nine-speed automatic, and the latest MBUX infotainment system. It also brings back rear seats and uses an electrically folding fabric roof, so it offers more versatility than earlier SL versions while still leaning hard into luxury and speed. That said, the packaging is tight, with limited rear-seat room and a small trunk, so it fits best if you value style, technology, and grand touring performance over everyday practicality. 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is described as a highly technical luxury convertible, and its modern setup includes a new platform, advanced infotainment, and a performance-oriented drivetrain. At the same time, early owners have reported electrical issues such as phantom battery drains and malfunctioning screens, so the car’s complexity is part of the ownership equation. For used buyers, that means long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about whether the car has been maintained carefully and sorted for electronic issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report to confirm the car’s background and verify that any prior damage or repairs were properly addressed. Put inspection priority on the electrical systems, especially the screens, battery behavior, and roof operation, since those are the kinds of issues that can be costly on a complex luxury convertible. You should also focus on overall condition and signs of hard use, because this model’s premium features and performance hardware make careful maintenance especially important.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 280 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.86% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $95,405, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class's resale value?

The current average of $95,405 sits slightly below last year's $100,280.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also temper future resale gains if you sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that a softer market today can mean more competition later, especially if newer alternatives continue to pull attention. Well-kept examples with strong presentation and complete service history should still hold up better than neglected ones.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $96,721, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $95,405 average.
• It emphasizes striking styling and premium cabin materials.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2022 if you want the better value and more negotiating room, especially since prices have softened and deal availability is decent. Consider the 2023 if you’re willing to pay a bit more for its stronger style-first appeal and premium feel, but price-sensitive buyers will likely find the 2022 the smarter entry point.
