That kind of owner confidence matters if you plan to keep a used heavy-duty truck for the long haul. For used buyers, the main risk is paying too much for a truck that has been worked hard, so condition and maintenance history should carry extra weight.

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report and confirm the truck’s accident and title background before anything else. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, brakes, tires, and towing-related wear, since heavy-duty trucks are often used hard. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, especially if the truck has been used for hauling or frequent towing.

Should I buy a 2022 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.81/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $48,271, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $42,489 average.
• It adds a more off-road-focused Rebel option with stronger adventure intent.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2022 if you want the better value and a broad mix of capability, comfort, and available inventory. Consider the 2023 if you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year with a clearer off-road identity; if price matters most, the 2022 is the smarter path.
