Used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport cost?

Prices have softened 11.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,691 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport earns a 4.8/5 user rating, and our experts give it 7.2/10 overall. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.

Drivers consistently praise its stylish design, spaciousness, smooth ride, and impressive features, especially in the higher trims. It also stands out for its comfortable cabin and strong stereo. The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and interior materials that can feel cheap, with some owners also noting extra noise.

For you, that means this is a smart fit if you want a two-row SUV that leans into comfort, style, and features rather than driving excitement. Good and great deals make up 37.6% of listings, so there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the SUV’s comfortable, trouble-free character and the kind of long-term appeal that makes it easy to count on.

Volkswagen’s Carefree Coverage plan adds complimentary scheduled maintenance and roadside assistance, which helps reduce early ownership costs. The expert evaluation also describes the Cross Sport as a vehicle that can feel cost-effective relative to some rivals because of that coverage.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle has been maintained well enough to avoid expensive wear-related issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on interior condition, road noise, and any signs of hard use. Since the cabin materials can feel cheap and the vehicle can develop rattles, pay close attention to trim wear, squeaks, and overall fit and finish.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE trim has 18-inch wheels that can look undersized, while SE with Technology gets more appropriate 20-inch wheels and SEL Premium R-Line adds the most distinctive styling touches.
• Powertrain: The standard turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the available 3.6-liter V6 makes 276 hp and 266 lb-ft and is more satisfying to drive.
• Safety package: Every version includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic post-collision braking. All but the base SE add adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and low-speed automatic braking. SEL adds automatic high-beam LED headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and IQ Drive.
• Infotainment: The base model gets an 8-inch digital display and a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and two USB-C ports. Higher trims add a 10.25-inch digital display, an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and more USB ports.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returned 19.2 mpg in testing, and the turbo-four requires premium fuel.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SE with Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line Black, and SEL Premium R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Cross Sport experience with the standard digital cockpit, basic infotainment, and the essential safety equipment. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but the smaller wheels and simpler tech make it feel less upscale than the higher trims.
• SE with Technology: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds the more appealing 20-inch wheels and the upgraded infotainment setup without jumping all the way to the luxury-oriented trims.
• SEL: This trim is the big step up for safety and convenience, adding features like lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and IQ Drive. It’s the right pick if you want a more advanced driver-assistance setup.
• SEL R-Line Black: This trim is for you if appearance matters most, since it leans into blacked-out styling details rather than changing the core mechanical package.
• SEL Premium R-Line: This is the most upscale version, with the most distinctive styling, the 21-inch wheels, and the richest feature content. It’s the one to choose if you want the Cross Sport at its most premium.

As you move up the trim ladder, you get more safety features, and the base SE is the one that misses out on adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, and low-speed automatic braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,691 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,878, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport's resale value?

The current average of $23,878 sits slightly below last year's $26,837.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have less downside left than a buyer who pays closer to the top of the market.

The Cross Sport’s style and strong owner satisfaction should help keep it appealing to used shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport safe?

The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport gets decent crash-test ratings, though it does not earn the highest accolades from IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every version includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic post-collision braking. All but the base SE add adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and low-speed automatic braking. SEL adds automatic high-beam LED headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and IQ Drive, which combines Travel Assist and Emergency Assist.

One caveat is that Lane Assist can misread road construction scars as lane markings and make unnecessary corrections. Travel Assist can also feel a bit obvious in how it steers and brakes.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds standard digital instrumentation and makes 4Motion standard for most trim levels.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,466, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,878 average.
• It offers a broad trim range and added Travel Assist and Emergency Assist.

The 2022 is the better pick if you want the newer setup and stronger market availability at a still-softened price. If your priority is simply spending less, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly route and still delivers much of the same core appeal.
