Used 2023 BMW M3 for Sale nearAustin, TX

How much does the 2023 BMW M3 cost?

Prices have softened 2.14% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 296 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 BMW M3 a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated car with an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Safety.

The 2023 M3 is built to be several things at once: a sports car, a family car, and a luxury car. That broad mission shows up in the way it combines high build quality, impressive materials, and genuinely thrilling driving dynamics with everyday usefulness.

The main trade-offs are clear: the design may be polarizing, the technology can be unintuitive, and road noise can be intrusive. If you want a performance sedan that still feels premium and practical, those compromises may be acceptable.

Good and great deals account for 31.4% of listings, which suggests you can still find competitive pricing if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 BMW M3 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 M3 is presented as a high-quality, well-built performance sedan that also brings everyday usability. It comes with a comprehensive warranty, roadside assistance, basic connected services, and complimentary scheduled maintenance for the duration of a typical lease, if not longer.

Its performance character is described as smooth, refined, composed, and communicative, which supports the sense that it is engineered to be predictable and confidence-inspiring over time. The main ownership risk for used buyers is that this is a high-performance car with a lot of capability, so condition and maintenance history matter more than they would on a mainstream sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW M3?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace documentation. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear, signs of hard driving, and whether the car’s equipment works as intended. Pay close attention to the condition of the tires, brakes, wheels, and interior materials, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the standard M3, the M3 Competition, and the M3 Competition xDrive. The standard M3 is the only one with a traditional manual transmission, while the Competition models move to an eight-speed automatic and the xDrive version adds all-wheel drive.
• Powertrain: Every M3 uses a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six. The standard version makes 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, while Competition models make 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet. The standard car uses rear-wheel drive, and the xDrive version adds selectable AWD settings.
• Safety package: The standard Active Driving Assistant includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Every M3 also includes adaptive LED headlights with automatic high-beam assist, BMW Assist eCall with automatic collision notification, an SOS emergency call button, automatic post-collision braking, and front and rear parking sensors. The Driving Assistance Professional package is available on Competition models and adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, evasive steering assist, Emergency Stop Assistant, Steering Assistant, lane-change assist, and Extended Traffic Jam Assistant.
• Infotainment: BMW Curved Display pairs a 12.3-inch digital instrument screen with a 14.9-inch touchscreen running iDrive 8. Standard equipment includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, connected services, navigation, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Wireless smartphone charging, a personal eSIM 5G connection, a drive recorder system, and a head-up display are available upgrades.
• Fuel efficiency: The official EPA combined rating is 19 mpg, and the test vehicle returned 18.4 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2023 BMW M3 trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW M3 is offered in 3 trim levels: M3, M3 Competition, M3 Competition xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• M3: This is the one to get if you want the manual transmission and the purest driver involvement. It delivers 473 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, and the standard performance hardware, making it the best fit for enthusiasts who value control and engagement over outright speed.
• M3 Competition: This trim adds more power, an eight-speed automatic, and the stronger 503-horsepower tune. It suits you if you want the quickest rear-drive version and prefer a more effortless daily-driving experience.
• M3 Competition xDrive: This is the most traction-focused version, adding all-wheel drive and the quickest acceleration of the group. It makes the most sense if you want maximum all-weather confidence and the broadest performance envelope.

The standard Active Driving Assistant is included, while the Driving Assistance Professional package is reserved for Competition models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW M3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop without expecting deep discounts on every listing.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 296 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.14% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $79,893, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW M3's resale value?

The current average of $82,290 sits slightly below last year's $84,088.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, the softer trend means resale value may not be as strong as it was a year ago, but the decline is modest rather than dramatic.

Because this model still combines strong performance, premium materials, and broad appeal, it should remain desirable to shoppers who want a high-end sports sedan. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 BMW M3 safe?

The BMW 3 Series sedan on which the M3 is based gets high marks in all crashworthiness assessments from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but the organization hasn’t published specific ratings for the M3 itself. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives the 3 Series sedan the highest possible ratings in all of its tests, including for rollover resistance, but does not apply these ratings to the M3 model.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Active Driving Assistant includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Every M3 also includes adaptive LED headlights with automatic high-beam assist, BMW Assist eCall with automatic collision notification, an SOS emergency call button, automatic post-collision braking, and front and rear parking sensors.

If you choose a Competition model, you can add the Driving Assistance Professional package, which brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, evasive steering assist, Emergency Stop Assistant, Steering Assistant, lane-change assist, and Extended Traffic Jam Assistant. The main caveat is that the published crash-test ratings apply to the 3 Series sedan rather than the M3 itself.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW M3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model stands out because it combines sports-car performance, family-car practicality, and luxury-car materials in one package.

The bottom line: If you want the broadest mix of performance, practicality, and premium feel, the 2023 is the right target. If you’re mainly chasing the lowest possible price, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2023 remains especially compelling because it delivers the full M3 formula with strong market availability and a modestly softer price trend.
