About 2023 Ford Edge
The five-seater Ford Edge SUV is stylish and nice inside, but its tech-heavy cabin and available ST performance model don’t quite help it keep up in such a crowded and competitive class. ## What’s New for the 2023 Ford Edge The Edge is expected to be discontinued after 2023, but it’s still worth a look for its last year on sale. Changes for 2023 are limited to a few trim-level equipment shuffles. ## Design Though it looks modern, the Edge’s design hasn’t changed drastically in years. The short-cropped SUV looks muscular and sporty, though only the top ST trim lives up to that billing. Wheel sizes range from 18 inches on the low end to 20 inches for the top ST model. Higher trims add LED headlights, and all models come with active grille shutters and LED daytime running lights. ## Powertrain The 2023 Edge is offered with two powertrain choices, depending on the trim. The base 2.0-liter four-cylinder offers 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD0. The Edge ST gets a twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. It sends power to all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission. Both engines perform admirably, but the V6 provides better power and acceleration in all situations. ## Interior The Edge offers good space across two rows of seating, and without the need to jam in a third-row seat, Ford gave everyone else more space. Cloth upholstery comes standard, along with manual seat adjustments. The mid-range SEL trim adds synthetic leather and the ST-Line gets synthetic leather with faux-suede inserts. The Titanium gets full leather upholstery, while the ST gets genuine leather and faux-suede. Heated and ventilated seats are available in higher trim levels. ## Technology Ford equips a 12-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard equipment on the 2023 Edge. The Sync 4A infotainment system offers easy-to-use menus, smooth navigation, and an interface that is less distracting to operate while driving than many others on the market. Higher trims add active noise cancelation and upgraded audio systems. ## Safety Ford Co-Pilot 360 comes standard on the 2023 Ford Edge. That means that every trim gets automatic headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, forward collision warnings, a rearview camera, and hill-start assist. Additional features on higher trims include rain-sensing wipers, parking sensors, and a perimeter alarm system. ## Pricing As of this writing, pricing for the 2023 Ford Edge starts just shy of $40,000. The Edge ST’s price climbs close to $50,000, and buyers can upgrade with packages and standalone options, including the $1,295 Black appearance package. Higher trims can add even more expensive options, such as the $2,570 301A package which includes navigation, heated and ventilated seats, a 180-degree front camera, and adaptive cruise control.
