Used 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L cost?

Prices have softened 1.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,759 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L earns a 4.83/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, spaciousness, and comfortable features, and they also frequently call out its strong engine performance and towing capability. In use, that lines up well with the Grand Cherokee L’s family-friendly mission and its more upscale feel than you might expect from Jeep’s rugged image.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the irritating transmission, so you should expect the best experience when you prioritize higher trims or the available V8. Even so, the model’s comfort-first character and premium cabin make it a strong fit if you want a three-row SUV with a more polished personality.

With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to give you some negotiating room.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for the SUV’s comfort, spaciousness, and overall satisfaction over time. That kind of response matters if you want a used three-row SUV you can count on for family duty.

The expert evaluation also supports that impression by describing the Grand Cherokee L as a solid, well-rounded SUV with strong ride quality and premium materials. Jeep also includes two years of scheduled maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is not broad reliability panic so much as choosing the wrong configuration or a poorly maintained example, especially given the base powertrain’s weaker reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper VIN-based review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body repairs, electronics, and how the drivetrain feels under load. It also helps to compare trim equipment closely, since the Grand Cherokee L’s value changes a lot with features.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Lower trims use an 8.4-inch touchscreen and a 10-inch digital instrument panel, while Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve get a 10.1-inch touchscreen and full-screen maps on the instrument panel. Higher trims also bring more upscale interior materials and features, while lower trims skip some of the richer cabin details.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, while the optional 5.7-liter Hemi V8 makes 357 horsepower and 390 pound-feet. The V8 is the better choice if you want stronger towing and smoother passing power.
• Safety package: Forward emergency braking, rear emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control are standard. Front cross-traffic braking, backup camera washer, and 360-degree cameras are optional on Limited and Overland trims, while Active Driving Assist is standard only on Summit Reserve.
• Infotainment: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all trims. The 8.4-inch system comes on Laredo and Altitude, while the 10.1-inch setup is reserved for Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4x4 V6 is rated at 18 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the V8 is rated at 14 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L trim should I buy?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is offered in 8 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, Summit Reserve, and the High Altitude package.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Grand Cherokee L experience with the 8.4-inch touchscreen, 10-inch digital instrument panel, and standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup and can live without the richer cabin and larger screen found higher up.
• Altitude: This trim builds on the lower-end setup while keeping the same basic tech foundation, so it’s a sensible step if you want a little more style without jumping too far in price. It suits buyers who care more about appearance and everyday usability than luxury extras.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 10.1-inch touchscreen and navigation, which meaningfully improve the cabin experience. It also opens the door to optional front cross-traffic braking, backup camera washer, and 360-degree cameras.
• Overland: This trim leans more upscale and keeps the larger 10.1-inch display and navigation while adding more premium content. It’s a good fit if you want a more luxurious feel without going all the way to the top trims.
• Summit: This is where the Grand Cherokee L starts to feel genuinely premium, with richer materials and advanced tech features. It’s the right choice if you want the most polished cabin experience short of the top model.
• Summit Reserve: This is the most luxurious version and the one the experts tested, with the strongest overall feature set and standard Active Driving Assist. It’s the best pick if you want the most complete Grand Cherokee L and are willing to pay for it.
• High Altitude package: This package blackens out the grille, logos, and door-handle tops, and it pairs well with the Grand Cherokee L’s upscale look. Choose it if style matters and you want a more distinctive appearance.

Safety-package note: Active Driving Assist is standard only on Summit Reserve, while night vision is limited to Summit and Summit Reserve.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have options, but the best listings can still move quickly.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,759 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.79% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,172, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L's resale value?

The current average of $31,164 sits slightly below last year's $31,731.

That mild decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now if you plan to keep the SUV for several years. For a future seller, the current pricing trend means you should not expect a big short-term appreciation story, but the drop is modest rather than dramatic.

The Grand Cherokee L still benefits from strong demand for roomy three-row SUVs with upscale features, especially when the trim and condition are right. If you buy well and keep mileage and condition in check, you should have a reasonable path to preserving value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L safe?

The 2023 Grand Cherokee L scored a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but only for models built after May 2023. It earns five-star ratings in every National Highway Traffic Safety Administration test except rollover, in which it scored four-star.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward emergency braking, rear emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control are standard. Front cross-traffic braking, backup camera washer, and 360-degree cameras are optional on Limited and Overland trims, while night vision is available only on Summit and Summit Reserve. Active Driving Assist is standard only on Summit Reserve.

You should verify the build date before buying, because the strongest IIHS result applies only to vehicles built after May 2023. Rear side thorax airbags are unavailable, so it’s worth paying close attention to the rest of the safety equipment and the vehicle’s production timing.

Should I buy a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds a Top Safety Pick+ result for later-built models and keeps the Grand Cherokee L’s premium-feeling cabin and strong tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,880, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $31,164 average.
• It offers a composed, upscale three-row SUV experience with premium materials and a great ride.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing, safety, and feature content, the 2023 is the better target. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2022 can be the smarter buy as long as you’re comfortable giving up some of the newer-year market advantages.
