Used 2023 Toyota Sequoia for Sale nearRochester, NY

How much does the 2023 Toyota Sequoia cost?

Prices have softened 7.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 885 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

With a 3.75/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia looks like a capable but highly tradeoff-driven full-size SUV.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

It pairs a powerful hybrid powertrain with easy-to-use technology and standard advanced safety features, which makes it appealing if you want a family hauler with strong capability and modern equipment. The main compromises are just as clear: the ride quality is poor, the third row is cramped, and cargo space is limited enough that it feels closer to a midsize crossover than a traditional full-size SUV.

You should expect the Sequoia to make the most sense if towing, safety, and tech matter more to you than maximum interior room. With 34.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia’s redesign gives it a more modern cabin and a standard hybrid powertrain, which points to a newer, more up-to-date ownership experience.

Its hybrid setup is described as powerful and efficient, and the expert evaluation notes that the new powertrain delivers strong towing and payload numbers while improving fuel economy versus the previous generation. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to the base SR5 as being far from basic, which suggests a well-equipped starting point for long-term use.

The powertrain’s combination of a twin-turbo V6, electric motor, and battery pack is presented as a strength rather than a complication, and the truck-based platform should appeal if you value durability-oriented engineering. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the Sequoia’s limited cargo room and cramped third row may make it feel less versatile as your needs grow.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that may have been used for towing. Focus on overall condition, since this SUV’s value depends heavily on whether the cabin, suspension, and drivetrain have been maintained well.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone. The base SR5 is the most stripped-down version, while the Capstone adds an upscale interior with leather, wood, metallic finishes, and a 14-inch infotainment screen.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 hybrid setup with a 10-speed automatic transmission, a 36-kilowatt electric motor/generator, and a 1.87-kilowatt-hour battery pack. It is rated at 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, with EPA estimates of 20 mpg with 4WD and 22 mpg with RWD.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Safety Connect services, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking are also standard.
• Infotainment: The base SR5 gets an 8-inch touchscreen, while other versions use a 14-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system supports over-the-air-style connected services through Toyota’s app-based features.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sequoia is EPA-rated at 20 mpg with 4WD and 22 mpg with RWD, and the test vehicle averaged 17.8 mpg in mixed evaluation driving.

Which 2023 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 5 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the Sequoia’s core hybrid powertrain, standard safety tech, and strong towing capability without paying for luxury extras.
• Limited: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more equipment while staying below the premium trims, and it can also be paired with the TRD Off-Road Package if you want extra trail hardware.
• Platinum: This trim adds more upscale equipment and is the first version to include the digital rearview mirror, making it a smart step up if you want more convenience and tech.
• TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most off-road-focused version, since it is the trim Toyota points to for added capability.
• Capstone: This is the luxury pick, with the most upscale cabin treatment, the 14-inch screen, and the richest interior presentation.

Every trim gets the standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 885 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.25% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $61,152, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $61,152 sits slightly below last year's $65,935.

That decline suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can help you get into the SUV at a more reasonable entry point. If you buy well now, you may have less depreciation pressure than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. The flip side is that resale value will depend heavily on trim, condition, and whether the truck has been used hard for towing or off-road driving.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia safe?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every driver-assistance feature is standard, and Toyota bundles the suite under Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. That includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition. You also get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Safety Connect services, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.

One caveat is that crash testing had not yet been performed by NHTSA or IIHS at the time of review, so there is no official crash-test result to cite for this model year.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.25% compared with last year.
• It brings a redesigned cabin, standard hybrid power, and strong towing capability.

Consider the 2022 if:

• It offers a more traditional full-size SUV layout with more cargo space.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $66,246, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $61,152 average.
• It adds the latest hybrid-era updates and a well-received facelift.

The bottom line: If you want the newest-feeling Sequoia with standard hybrid power and modern tech, the 2023 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is maximum space and a lower purchase price, the 2022 is worth a look; if you want the latest updates and can spend more, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
