Used 2023 Toyota bZ4X for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2023 Toyota bZ4X cost?

Prices have softened 3.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 583 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable selection to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota bZ4X a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Toyota bZ4X earns 4.3/5 from users and 6.3/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

Toyota positions this as its first volume-market electric crossover for the U.S., and the setup is intentionally simple: you get a small EV crossover with either single-motor front-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive. That makes it easy to shop if you want a straightforward electric commuter with a comfortable ride and strong handling.

The trade-offs are just as clear. The design can be polarizing, the technology can feel unintuitive, and the value proposition is not especially strong for the money. Even so, the bZ4X’s everyday usability and composed road manners make it a sensible fit if you care more about comfort and drivability than flash.

38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota bZ4X reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Toyota’s first mainstream EV effort is built around a simple lineup and a conventional ownership experience, which can be reassuring if you want something less complicated than many newer electric crossovers. The expert review also points to a solid, planted driving feel and a powertrain setup that prioritizes traction and comfort over complexity.

The performance notes suggest the bZ4X is more about predictable daily use than dramatic acceleration, and the battery-and-charging setup is straightforward enough for routine ownership. Standard warranty coverage includes an eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty, which is helpful for used buyers evaluating remaining coverage.

For a used buyer, the main long-term risk is making sure the battery, charging behavior, and overall condition still line up with the remaining warranty and your daily driving needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota bZ4X?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on an EV where battery condition and charging behavior matter more than on a conventional gas crossover. Focus on how the car has been used, whether it has been fast-charged heavily, and whether the cabin, tires, and brakes show signs of harder-than-average use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: XLE and Limited are the two trims, and the Limited adds features such as 20-inch wheels and an available 360-degree camera system, while the XLE is the simpler entry point.
• Powertrain: You can choose single-motor front-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive; the AWD setup adds traction and uses Subaru’s X-Mode with Snow/Dirt and Snow/Mud drive modes plus hill-descent control.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, Lane Tracing Assist, and Safe Exit Assist.
• Infotainment: The bZ4X comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and built-in over-the-air update capability.
• Range & charging: Base FWD models are EPA-rated at 252 miles of range with a 71.4-kWh battery, and Toyota says DC fast charging can get the battery to 80% in about 30 minutes; all models also have a 6.6-kW onboard charger that can refill the battery in 9.5 hours.
• Battery health: Check the battery state of health, ask how often the car has been DC fast charged versus charged at home, and confirm how much of the eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty remains.

Which 2023 Toyota bZ4X trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota bZ4X is offered in 2 trim levels: XLE and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XLE: This is the value play if you want the bZ4X’s core strengths without paying for extras. It gives you the standard EV setup, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the full Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite, so it covers the essentials well.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the more upscale version and are willing to pay for it. It adds the higher-end trim treatment, 20-inch wheels, and available 360-degree camera functionality, making it the better pick if you want more convenience and a richer feature set.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim to get the core driver-assistance package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota bZ4X?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 583 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,663, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota bZ4X's resale value?

The current average of $23,246 sits slightly below last year's $23,984.

That softer pricing trend suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy carefully and keep mileage and condition in check, you may be able to preserve value better than the average listing.

The bZ4X’s resale outlook is also tied to how shoppers perceive its range, technology, and overall value. A clean example with strong equipment and remaining battery warranty coverage should be easier to move later than one with heavy wear or a rough charging history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota bZ4X safe?

The 2023 bZ4X received top “Good” scores in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash test categories, as well as the highest scores for front crash prevention tech.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, Lane Tracing Assist automated lane centering, and Safe Exit Assist. A 360-degree camera system is available on the Limited trim.

One caveat is that the standard headlights earned a “Poor” IIHS rating, which kept the bZ4X from an IIHS Top Safety Pick award. Optional headlights were rated “Good.”

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota bZ4X or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Toyota’s first U.S.-market volume EV effort brings a simple two-trim lineup, standard wireless smartphone integration, and strong IIHS crash performance.

The bottom line: If you want the bZ4X’s core mix of comfort, handling, and straightforward EV usability, the 2023 is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep shopping the market closely and focus on the cleanest, best-priced example rather than stretching for a higher-trim car.
