Used 2023 Volkswagen Jetta for Sale nearMinneapolis, MN

How much does the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta cost?

Prices have softened 1.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,769 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price and condition.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

The Jetta’s appeal comes through as a practical, comfortable sedan with a pleasant interior design, strong ride and handling, and broad everyday usefulness. It fits you well if you want a family-friendly compact car that feels polished without pushing into luxury-car pricing.

The trade-offs are clear: styling is uninspired, performance is sluggish, and all-wheel drive is not available. Even so, the Jetta’s well-rounded character and comfortable road manners keep it appealing for shoppers who value ease of use over excitement.

Only 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you may need to shop carefully to find the strongest value.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Jetta’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward gasoline powertrain, comfortable tuning, and practical everyday design. It also comes with free scheduled maintenance for two years or 20,000 miles and no-charge roadside assistance for three years and 36,000 miles, which can reduce early ownership hassle.

The expert evaluation also points to a car that feels predictable and easy to live with, especially if you value a compliant ride and simple, usable controls. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the car has been maintained properly and that any prior wear or damage is documented before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Volkswagen Jetta?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not universal. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the drivetrain, suspension, and any signs of uneven wear or repair. It also makes sense to pay close attention to how the car feels on the road, since comfort and handling are major parts of the Jetta’s appeal.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S, Sport, SE, SEL, and GLI trims are listed, and the SEL stands out with ambient lighting, genuine leather upholstery, an oversized power sunroof, and larger screens. The base trim is the one most likely to feel light on upscale features.
• Powertrain: The standard 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder makes 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. S and Sport trims use a six-speed manual as standard, while SE and SEL use an eight-speed automatic.
• Safety package: IQ.Drive is standard on the SE and SEL, and it includes Travel Assist and Emergency Assist along with the expected modern driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems. Manual-transmission models do not offer all IQ.Drive features.
• Infotainment: SEL trim brings a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro display and an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen. It also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Car-Net connected services with a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The SEL is rated at 33 mpg in combined driving, and testing returned 30 mpg on a mountainous route.

Which 2023 Volkswagen Jetta trim should I buy?

The 2023 Volkswagen Jetta is offered in 5 trim levels: S, Sport, SE, SEL, and GLI.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes the Jetta’s core strengths accessible without pushing the price up. It suits you if you want the basic sedan formula and are comfortable giving up the richer tech and upscale touches found higher up.
• Sport: This trim adds a little more personality while staying close to the value end of the lineup. It’s a sensible step up if you want a bit more equipment without jumping too far in price.
• SE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks IQ.Drive and a more complete safety and convenience package. If you want the strongest balance of features and price, this is the one to focus on.
• SEL: This is the most upscale non-GLI trim, with the larger digital gauge display, bigger infotainment screen, wireless smartphone integration, and a more premium cabin feel. Choose it if you want the Jetta to feel as smart and polished as possible.
• GLI: This is the sport-tuned model with added power and more rewarding driving dynamics. It’s the right pick if you want the performance-oriented version rather than the standard comfort-first sedan.

IQ.Drive is standard on the SE and SEL, while manual-transmission models do not offer all IQ.Drive features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Volkswagen Jetta?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,769 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,485, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $19,564 sits slightly below last year's $19,779.

That modest decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer now but may temper what you recover later as a seller. If you plan to resell, the Jetta’s value will likely depend on how well it holds up mechanically and cosmetically over time.

The current pricing also suggests there is still steady demand for a practical compact sedan with a comfortable ride and broad appeal. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta safe?

The 2023 Volkswagen Jetta earns five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, but four-star ratings for frontal-impact protection. It also earns a Poor result in IIHS moderate overlap frontal crash testing.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive suite is standard on the SE and SEL, and it includes Travel Assist and Emergency Assist. Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, while Emergency Assist can bring the car to a safe stop if it detects an unresponsive driver. The system is impressive overall, but the expert evaluation notes occasional inaccurate lane-departure warnings and some unnatural steering input.

The main caveat is the IIHS result, which is a meaningful weakness if safety is a top priority for you. If you’re shopping used, make sure the specific car you’re considering has the equipment you want and review its history carefully.

Should I buy a 2023 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 stands out for its comfortable ride, strong handling, and broad family-car appeal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $17,792, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $19,564 average.
• It brings a value-minded refresh with upgraded technology and more standard features.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market mix of inventory, pricing trend, and owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the better all-around target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Jetta’s practical, comfort-focused character.
