The 2024 Ferrari Purosangue is a four-passenger, four-door crossover SUV. The Italian automaker once said it would never build an SUV, and according to Maranello, it still hasn’t-Ferrari still refers to the Purosangue as a sports car. Call it what you will; it’s the most functional and “family-friendly” vehicle Ferrari has ever built. ## What’s New for the 2024 Ferrari Purosangue The Purosangue is an all-new model for the 2024 model year. ## Design The Purosangue has the overall design that you’d expect of a crossover from a supercar company. It has a long hood and an abrupt rear dropoff, with the rear pillars directly over the rear wheels to underscore its performance nature. The rear doors blend into the rear wheel area so as to give the impression that the Purosangue is a high-riding coupe. The rear doors are rear-hinged, providing easier access and a dramatic entrance. ## Powertrain Ferrari ensures that it keeps the "sport" in "sport utility vehicle" (or "sports car") with the Purosangue’s standard 6.5-liter V12 engine. It makes 715 horsepower and 528 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to an incredibly sophisticated all-wheel drive (AWD) system. There’s no true link between front and rear wheels. Instead, the front wheels derive motivation from a power takeoff unit matched to the front of the mid-mounted V12. The two-speed frontal gearbox only engages above fifth gear, ensuring that at lower gears, the Purosangue will have that performance-oriented rear-wheel-drive (RWD) experience. It also features Multimatic True Active Spool Valve (TASV) dampers that make for both comfortable road trips and thrilling corner carving. Each damper has its own electric motor to ensure precise management of the Purosangue’s 4,850 pounds of mass. The Purosangue also features Side Slip Control and four-wheel steering. Fuel economy for the 2024 Ferrari Purosangue is 11 mpg city, 15 highway, and 12 combined. This high-end powertrain requires premium fuel. ## Interior There are other Ferraris that can seat more than two occupants. But unlike the Portofino, which has seats available in a pinch, the Purosangue’s rear seats are designed for adults to travel in comfort on long trips. The Purosangue provides up to 17 cubic feet of cargo space, which can be loaded with the optional luggage pairing, specifically designed for this vehicle. ## Technology The Purosangue does not feature a central touchscreen like the one found in the Portofino. Instead, key infotainment and vehicle functions are operated via two screens in the driver instrument panel and include Apple CarPlay. The front passenger also has a digital display located in front of them in the dash, providing data like vehicle speed and navigation information. ## Safety Unlike more track-focused Ferrari models, the Purosangue comes equipped with several modern advanced driver-assistance features as standard equipment. These include automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring. ## Pricing At the time of this writing, base MSRP for the 2023 Ferrari Purosangue is around $400,000.
