The 2024 Toyota Highlander stands out as a practical, comfort-focused midsize SUV with a long reputation for reliability and family-friendly versatility. It emphasizes comfort over excitement, while still giving you good cargo space, available gas and hybrid powertrains, and a long list of standard equipment. Is the 2024 Toyota Highlander reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Toyota Highlander is described as having a long reputation for reliability, and its overall setup is aimed at easy ownership rather than complexity. It also leans into comfort and practicality, which usually matters when you plan to keep a vehicle for a while. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the concept of the vehicle and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by family-duty use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Highlander?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you’re serious about, even if the vehicle looks clean in photos. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on overall condition, signs of heavy interior wear, and whether the vehicle has been used hard as a daily family hauler. Pay close attention to the seats, cargo area, and any evidence of inconsistent maintenance or prior bodywork.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Highlander?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,136 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.38% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $36,681, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $39,314 sits slightly below last year's $39,863.

That kind of price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean future resale gains are more limited if prices continue to soften. Even so, the Highlander’s practical reputation and broad appeal should help it stay relevant with shoppers who want a dependable family SUV. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2024 Toyota Highlander is a strong choice if you want a comfort-first midsize SUV with broad appeal, solid inventory, and a reputation that supports long-term ownership. If your priority is getting the best possible value, you should focus on the cleanest examples priced near the lower end of the market; if you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing for a lower entry cost.
