In 1994, the Ford Mustang came roaring back from probable extinction to become Motor Trend's car of the year for the third time. The first major restyling of the Mustang in 15 years resulted in a new, slick package with an exciting line of engines.
The standard was a 3.8-liter V6 rated at 145 horsepower, with an optional 5.0-liter V8 HO rated at 225 horsepower. The Cobra was again the most powerful car in the line, with a 5.0-liter V8 HO rated at 245 horsepower.
The Saleen Supercharged Racer aftermarket package was barely legal: The 351-ci supercharged V8 was rated at 480 horsepower. Yes, that says "480 horsepower." ;)

If you get the v6 American Muscle.com has everything you need for upgrades and they are very well priced. Start with the chip first. There are plenty of reviews on each part you might think on getting. The mustang is very easy to work on with lot's of video's out there to help you out. The only 2 bad things are gas milage and power with the v6. So do upgrades and you with make the money back in gas savings alone. I really want to give it 5 stars because there are lot's of after market parts for cheap. But I gave it 4 because I'm grading it as standard.May 24, 2013

Love the convertable, fun to drive , red with tan interior sticks to the road, fair on
gas, we take it out in the sun , going up the Island day trips , good just to drive

Second owner. The car was purchased 10 years ago. It's a 5.0 GT 5-speed convertible.It currently has 38,000 miles on it and is all original except for the tires, battery, and wiper blades (and air, oil, and gas filters). Handling is decent. Power isn't outstanding. Reliability is excellent. Fifth gear acts as an overdrive. On the highway, the engine loafs along under 2000 rpm. Highway mileage is in the mid to upper 20's. City mileage strictly depends on how you choose to drive it, but it can be fairly decent. Because it's a convertible, trunk space is limited. A set of golf clubs and that's about it. The back seat is narrowed due to the top. Rear seat legroom is minimal. Front seats are supportive. Controls are all within easy reach. Interior storage consists of a center console, door pockets, and a small glove compartment.
The original owner used it as a summer toy ride, as do we. It's never seen snow. I wouldn't recommend it as a four seasons ride to anyone living in the snow belt. Add a set of snow tires and weight in the trunk and you could get by.
It's a run-of-the-mill example of a 1994 GT. It will eventually be inherited by our son, who is also a 1994 model. It's a fun little car. Not a head turner. Not a tire shredder. These cars would be good choices as starter cars.Mar 12, 2012

The car had alot of potential and never gave me any problems, i drove it everywhere and anywhere and had sum power to back it up. Ran into money issues and had to sell it but i will have another soon enough.Nov 03, 2011

Bought car in 2000 with very low miles. It has been very reliable and very little maintenance cost. Fun to drive but feel a lack of hp from the 5.0

performance is great for a v6.
It has been built to last. even though it was made in '94, i have probably only
spent about $500 total in maintenance (including the new tires and radiator).
The lines are sleek as you can see in the picture. With a little bit of elbow grease,
the inside looks fantastic.

Performance: for a automatic it accelerates well, the brakes work well. I have
after market springs on it so it handles amazingly well.
Build Quality: It has needed a few repairs like any older car does. Over all
though its a great car and is built really well!
Appearance:the interior is nothing great its very nice and cozy i guess you
would say. Everything is within easy reach of the driver and its comfortable.
Exterior I love the look of my car its not the best i guess you would say but its
nice. Smooth lines :)
Cost: I get 23 or 24 to the gallon when I'm driving normal and maintenance is
easy when you work on it yourself.
Fun: This car is really fun to drive I love it!

Slow Car for the Amout of gaz it take !
Slow Performace 145HP only :S but the torque is good 215LB, not bad on Braking but not good on handling

1994 Ford Mustang Gt Convertable, V8 5.0 L, 46,000 original miles, all options, meticulously maintained, close to mint, has never seen snow...only flaw are a few "dings". The picture used is almost identical to mine. Dark green exterior, beige convertable with beige leather interior.Feb 10, 2010

This car had a Paxton Novi 2000 Supercharger that gave it a good boost of 12lbs. The Accel and braking were great. Unless you were going 135. I deffinatly should have upgraded my brakes. But it just heated them up really fast so you couldnt jam on the brakes at high speeds. Good build but the motor had 189000 miles and finally started letting go. But thats a given she just needed a rebuild. Interior was awesome and so was the appearane because it was dropped 2 and a half inches. It sat right. Car was amazing fun to drive. But with the supercharger and drag radials make sure you have experience before attempting to drive it.Nov 08, 2009

Performance- Could use better factory gearing, but does good with 3.73s :). New engine will really liven it up.
Build Quality- Amazing, I have owned it 2 years now and have had just a starter and tranny seal blow, with about 20000km put on in those 2 years.
Appearance- Looked pretty plain from factory but adding cobra wheels/hood/bumper really gave it a mean "flare". Interior was cloth but I upgraded to a newer Mach 1 Leather seat interior, looks and feels a lot more Modern and classy.
Cost of Ownership- Maintenance is VERY easy, and has been very very reliable. Only bad thing is Gas mileage averaging 18mpg city/31mpg highway. I didn't buy it for economy purposes though.
Fun Factor- A blast to drive! I love everything about it but wish steering/braking was a little tighter. I always find a reason to drive it haha.Sep 08, 2009

Build quality, to be fair, is NORMALLY very good on these cars... however mine was heavily molested by jerks before I had it. no room for anyone in the back seat really, but at the time I was signle and didn't need to car pool anyone around, so why not? great acceleration, cornered very well (had 275/45 rubber at all 4 corners, Avon Tech M550 A/S tires... great tire). Mileage was about 22 highway miles per gallon, VERY shocking given the mileage and that it was an automatic AND a pushrod engine... what would be considered a "clunker" today... ignorant swine. Seats were very comfy up front, A/C blew cold (when it DID work), stereo was factory Mach 460 and was VERY well put together... I say was because the former owner had an aftermarket head unit put in like a jerk. Still very nice stereo though. Only thing I would have changed appearance wise is had the Saleen S281 body work put on it. All in all, best fun I have ever had in a car... I miss it so much :-(.Aug 24, 2009

its a chick car right now, automatic v6, convertable, stock horsepower is like 150hp with 220ft/lbs torque but i have a supercharger to put on it which will make it roughly 240hp and 340ft/lbs torque which will be respectable, put some better 17" rims and tires on it, needs suspension, kinda soft, and paint soon cause 90's fords peal paint off the primer. but its a daily driver nice to cruise to the beach ride that gives an average of 30mpg and insurance is cheap, and chicks dig mustangs for some reason.Jul 23, 2009

Performance the 3.8 lacks power. The trans shifts late at high rpm but you feel good acceleration when it hits 2nd. Loses power in overdrive and is in and out at 40 mph. Build quality is good 8 out of 10. Only problem was water pump at 80k. The 3.8 has issue with head gaskets. Their is a TSB from Ford. Great styling you know what you are driving. Easy to own. Easy to fix. Good milage. Fun to drive with the top down. This is a great american car. If you don't abuse it ( like most people do with cars ) It wont let you down. Apr 20, 2009

this was my 2nd mustang that i've owned. this one was slightly modified, and was fun while it lasted. decided to sell it to go to college. missed it for awhile, but 94-95 stangs werent really good performers stock. didnt want to soak tons of money in it and be broke goin into college. it sounded good and made decent power. The first thing I like is the name and brand. Ford although it may have many acronyms has built an extremely reliable product with the mustang. This car is always a blast to drive. The sound and rumbling of the engine make it extremely enjoyable. Response and driving are always great.Mar 31, 2009

My first Car. A 94 entry level automatic mustang. The car was to be honest a little short on performance but it was big on fun. The head gaskets on the 3.8l V6 are notorious at 100000km and the trannys go at 200000. The AOD-E 4speed was really not known for its reliability. All that being said it was a strong puller in a straight line and the brakes were good for a entry level car. All that being said the 145 hp was always on tap to take the car to well over legal limits in short spans. It wouldnt compete with the GT mustang i now own but it did win out in comfort as the interrior trim felt more together and the seats were much better. One of the things that made it unique was the spoiler delete option. Something that not many mustangs that year got. maintained a 33mpg avg on highwayJan 03, 2009

It's all stock. But if you want to think in terms of 1994, it has amazing top of the line performance. By today's standards, no where near. Handles perfectly in the corners and at speeds above 120mph. Gas mileage is good sitting at 20mpg in town and around 25 on the highway if you keep your foot out of the throttle using 92 octane fuel.Dec 23, 2008

one thing i like about this car is the sound of the exhaust. 5.0 liter mustangs have a perfect tone. performance is okay, it has some modifications done to it, but 94 gt convertibles are one of the slowest v8 mustangs. the looks are great and it is fun to drive.Dec 09, 2008

Balls to the wall acceleration, although no traction whatsoever from my Sumitomos. Definately need drag radials. Great paint job. Lowered, agressive stance. Black deep dish American Racing Rims. Trickflow heads, Ford Racing Cam, BBK Headers, MSD Distributor and ignition coil, BBK 75 mm throttle body, CAI, X-pipe, no cats/dumps, HO intake manifold w/ BBK spacer, Crane Cams roller rockers, 411 gears, BBK fuel pressure regulator, BBK 255 fuel pump, and a hell of a clutch to bring it all together. Ok, so my car has had a few repair issues, bought it used and had a few minor problems, then i got in an accident and the airbags deployed, so now i'm just needing a new set of headlights and some airbags, also need to rebuild the transmission cuz i learned how to drive a stick shift in this car and pretty muich broke 3rd gear....
alright onto other subjects, performace of the car is excellent, acceleration is good....perhaps too good, you can spin the tires through 2nd gear (since 3rd gear is out, would go further if it were working)....braking is not so great, so i would get upgraded brakes, and handling is pretty good too, even for a mustang
appearance - interior could be a little bigger to fit somebody as tall as me, but i get used to it, and the outside is great, i love all the lines in the car and it all seems so smooth
cost of ownership - this is the only bad part of the car...since i have 3.73 gears in the rear end, my gas mileage suffers the most from it, i generally get around 200 miles in a whole tank, and that's about 13 gallons when i fill up, so around 15mpg....but on the other hand, maintenance is pretty cheap because parts are a dime a dozen
last but not least,

i love this car, i think its body style is unique and i like it because its less popular then other mustangs out their. It doesnt have great gas millage but duh its a v8, the sound of the 302 is unmistakable and im glad that the 94/95 came with the 302 instead of the 4.6LSep 17, 2008

Overall all its an amazing car. Handles good, brakes also good ,the car stops great. Only a V6 but still packs a big punch. About 160 HP and 200 lbs of torque. Accelerates like a beast with a nice sounding exhaust. Only mods to the car are a cowl induction hood and a cold air intake.Jul 26, 2008

gotta love my pony, it still turn heads. even tho there are far more advanced and faster cars, none compare to this one 94-95 last years for the famous 5.0. 302 stroked out to a 347.

the owner prevouse to me was a lier. He said that it had no rust, no dings execpt a repaired roof from hail damage, and it drives great. It turns out that it has some rust, has major dints on the roof, scratches on the trunk, and the strut squecks. the car is very fun to drive and has overall good handling and cornering. the t-5 5 speed manual transmission has been known to have its quirks and ive had plenty of classic ford issues that can be repaird but can get pretty pricey if you dont do it yourself. The ford 5.0 stock in these is fast but not nearly as fast as a v8 in a sports car should be. the car is however built for the everymans sports car so there are not many speed performance parts in it. upgrade parts are plentiful and sold cheaply.Mar 19, 2008

This car has every option on it that the factory offered. Even if it were a stock GT it would still be a good car. It performs in 0-60MPH pretty well, and handles like a charm. With a certain amount of craziness and skill, this car is capable of doing some pretty amazing things!Jan 03, 2008

I've had my Mustang for five years. I've made a few upgrades with exhaust, intake, suspension, interior. She looks good and runs great. Mechanics are easy to find for them if I do run into a issue. Parts are readily available and she fits my budget.May 06, 2007
