In 1999, Ford went back to honoring 1964 rather than 1965 as the birthdate of its pony car. The 1999 Ford Mustang received a facelift to celebrate its 35th anniversary. The graceful lines of the previous generation were hardened once more, with sharp side scoops and a more dramatic rear fascia. Every base Mustang and GT had a 35th Anniversary badge on its fenders, but only about 4628 were actually the 35th Anniversary Limited Edition models., identifiable by a black stripe on the hood and a spoiler. The SVT Mustang Cobra had a 4.6-liter DOHC V8, rated at 320 horsepower. However, this to recall all of its 1999 Cobras to replace the intake manifold and entire exhaust system. Ford received positive press for taking the initiative to recall one of its more popular cars over what proved to be a 15-horsepower differential.

I loved my mustang. It was the funnest car I ever had in my life especially being in my 20's. Everyone always wanted to ride in my car going to parties and even if the back seat was not the biggest everyone made due.Aug 07, 2014

This car is fast and has never caused me any trouble. The only downfall is it is a summer car, I only take it our of storage for the summer because it wouldn't make it in the snow. If you money to blow on a fun sports car the Mustang GT convertible is the car for you. Jul 16, 2014

The 1999 35th Anniversary Mustang even with a 3.8 V6 it still has quick acceleration and great fuel economy, 4 wheel disc brakes will stop you on a dime, Traction control for great handling on wet and dry roads and in the curves, This mustang is pure American muscle and with its clean sleek style is still an American icon. This mustang is 14 years old and can still turn heads and can keep up with the best of them. The only thing I don't care about with the mustang is it only has a 15.70 Gallon fuel tank, Cargo capacity for the Luggage on a long trip and its small back seat and plus it is a Cop magnet! This car is well built and last forever, I love my mustang! I am very particular about everything on my car, This is my first mustang and I would love to buy another one some day. I know it sounds crazy but unless your a mustang owner you wouldn't know what I mean, So a word of advise to every one go get you a Mustang.Dec 21, 2013

Nice looking car with aggressive styling. Fun to drive with low center of gravity which allows for better handling in and out of curves. Radio system could be better in standard production, however it can be upgraded easily. Overall a nice ride.Aug 26, 2013

This Mustang is an extremely fun car to drive. I have never had any issues with it at all. It's fast and furious looking. It turns on a dime. It has been in car shows. This car has been an absolute pleasure to own and drive. When ford built this car they outdid themselves. Only a very few have every driven my car.

The back seats have little to no leg room. Which doesn't matter unless your'e carpooling.
Meant for speed. Amazing acceleration and braking! Great visibility at night, great sound, smooth transmission. Great interior; radio sounds great with the Mach 1000 system, or Mach 460, has cupholders which could be deeper, but if your'e racing you don't need a drink. Mustangs- a must have!Dec 25, 2011

I have found this car to be extremely reliable if you treat it right. For being a V6 the power is nice and its still very fun to drive. The clutch is stiff but I find that to be somewhat of a bonus cause it helps you to feel more connected to the car.Nov 27, 2011

good handling and power for a v6, great fuel milage. bought off a neigbor for a good price, went from an old ford pickup so fuel milage was what sold me on the car. wanting to do some mods for power not not to many options for a v6 other then a turbo and thats outa my current price range. been a very reliable car, going on 130,000 miles and only minor repairs and maintinance still drives goodNov 19, 2011

Just a Great Car to have a s a daily driver. I am not covering an excessively high mileage to and from work as I used to so I can afford to run The Mustang as an every day driver. I went from The sublime to the ridiculous as I had a TDI VW Passatt 1.9 derv befroe this which did 50mpg!!!Nov 13, 2011

My baby is a champ. I put her through hell. She's got 140,000 miles to her and I
never have any problems with her. She needs some new tires but I'll be fine
without them. And a deer hit her a year ago. Damn deer. She's still beautiful

Lasted me too long. 203K miles so far and mostly basic maintenance. Replaced
a axle bearing once, new egr valve at 150K, had an exhaust leak that never
seems to go away. Transmission has been damn near bullet-proof as the fluid
still hasn't even been flushed. Engine was spritely but feels really tired now.
Some of the interior plastic is showing its age (vents and console lid cracking).
Aside from a rebuilt steering assembly thats feels ...a bit...off.........the car
still handles quite well. I replaced the front and rear sway bars with thicker
ones from Summit Racing a while back as the bushings were worn. Sep 22, 2010

Acceleration thros you to the back of the seat. Braking is a little off..needs new ones. Handling is horrible (alignments off ). The build is excellent. Has black leather interior which is awesome. Brand new Perrellis and 18" alloy rims. gas mileage is nice and doesnt take a whole lot to fill it up either. It is a stick so it is definitely fun to drive..especially on the interstate. I like how the mustang has the power even in the V6. However, all the newer
mustangs have very cheap interiors. The overall car is fairly sturdy though.
Handling is nice and even. Corners perfectly. Not easy to tip it.May 12, 2010

This is my daily driver. Got it cheap from some kid and so far has been reliable. After catching up on routine maintenance the car really woke up. The drivetrain is sound after 103,000 miles. Its also nice to have the power of a V8, its no LS1 but it will do for now.Jan 16, 2010

Performance - Is not as powerful as you would expect, should go with the GT
Fun Factor - It is definately a really fun and great car to drive and own.
Appearance - Love it.
Build Quality - So far low maintaince even though its been treated roughly it handles all the abuse you can put into it. Including an accidental shifting into park at 35mph.Sep 15, 2009

performance: the standard V6 is a little rough but
reasonably quick with good torque for highway cruising.
Braking is very good but in handling there is a little more
understeer than necessary. The build quality is quite good
although there is an excessively plastic look to many of the
interior bits. I love the styling, a very sophisticated grand
touring look. Fuel economy on the highway is very good
at 8.4L/100KM but in town it is closer to 11L/100KM.
This is a fun economical ride with classic rear drive handling

Performance - Fast, bad handling in rain/snow
Build Quality - Good, 10 year old car and only needed about $600 in repairs.
Appearance - Perfect, nice and clean
Cost of Ownership - gets about 20 mpg, not expensive to maintain.

best bang for the buck, the insurance is cheap and it
really gets up and goes for just a 3.8. the gass milage
is about 21 which i find amazing, with the windows
down and sunshining it is a blast to drive, and pick up

I love my car. It is the best one that I've ever owned and i
cannot complain one bit about it. Not only is the car a blast
to drive, but it also prolly saved my life. It held up well to
my accident a couple of months ago when i rear ended a
truck going 60. minimal damage considering the speed.

Performance? What is there to say other than it's a mustang. Accelerates quickly, brakes solid with decent brakes. It's a convertible so she's a little rattle-y from being 10 years old and a convertible. It's an anniversery edition so the fun factor is there. Not many left and it's pretty awesome. Gas isn't as bad as you'd think for a mustang. 17/18 city and 22/23 highway.Dec 16, 2008

My fav car I've ever owned! Its fantastic pickup (esp. considering it's a 6-cyl.), great handling, & solid body construction saved my life when some moron driving a borrowed Ram with no insurance & a suspended license ran a red & nearly t-boned me. If I would have been in a lesser car, I would be dead now. Unfortunately, my car paid the price. I had to buy the salvage, but my body guy did an amazing job. It isn't perfect like it was (only had 1 door ding, & no rust), & I had to scrap the plan to sink another engine in it when this one finally goes, but at least I have my car back! I missed it while it was gone! It's a lot of fun to drive! The only drawback is it only gets about 22 mpg combination of city/country miles, & I have to borrow a friend's SUV when I go camping - no room for gear, of course. But hey, that's only for a couple of days per year - the rest of the time, my 'stang reigns!Oct 31, 2008

I love the acceleration the vehicle has, even though it is a V6. At nine years old, it still is eye catching. I dislike the old look of the interior — it is the same as the previous body style — but would be more attractive with leather. The brakes take more push to react compared to other vehicles.
It has rarely needed repairs. Also on the easy side is the gas mileage. It isn't as great as a foreign vehicle, but it is remarkable for its type.Aug 18, 2008

My 1999 Mustang Gt is a bright red with chrome cobra rims. This car has been lowered with a kit, had a cold air intake installed, a flowmaster exaust, x-pipe, and a chip. This car handles very well and will chirp the tires going into 3rd gear (about 65 mph). This car is a manual though it is very very fun and loud to drive and defiantly gets anybodys attention.Jul 12, 2008

it was really stylish inside and out
gas mileage was fair bout 21 miles to the gallon

its got a full body kit on it which adds to the styling ; great handling around corners and very wide tires on the back for way better traction ; the acceleration is phenomanal and can easly pass most of any one ; headers with a flowmaster exhaust gives it a great sound and an even greater growl than stock, inside i got a short throw shifter for more precise shifts , interior is magnaminousMay 27, 2008

While the underpinnings of this car are from the most humble of origins, the exterior was freshened in 1987, 1994 and 1999. Easy to modify with inexpensive parts the Mustang can be made to accelerate, brake and handle with some of the best cars.Feb 23, 2008

Enjoyed the power of a manual transmission with a stick shift. Was an upgrade from the small 4 banger I have driven. Miss the power when I drive the Jetta. Car got hit by a semi with 166k miles on it. Sold it for $500 to a friend and its still running, just body damage. What a champ!!!Feb 22, 2008

I've had this car since i came out and I have no major complaints. Great mileage for a 3.8L V6 and can handle most other sports cars on the road. Steering, braking and acceleration are all solid. Everything on my car (which is now 9 years old this year) is original accept for the perishables (e.g. tires, spark plugs). I have 132,000 miles on this car and I love it. 1999 base Mustang. Silver with 18'' Cobra R rims with Kohmo low profile tires. Standard engine with after market cold-air intake. The mustang pushes at about 230hp. Exterior modifications include an 02' hood scoop, black chrome bumper fillers, chrome shorty antenna, billet grill set for lower upper and scoop grill. I've had this vehicle for 2 years bought used...
still very little maintainence required(other than voluntary add ons).
Gas mileage poor..especially with 3.73 gears in rear end.

The 99 Mustang's V6 lacks a lot of power for a 3.8 liter. Ford could of had tuned it a little better. Exhaust system kills a lot of the fuel economy and horsepower. If you decide to buy one, change your intake, exhaust, get your catalytic converter straight piped, and get yourself an E.C.U. chip. After all of this you should have a good amount of horsepower that should beat any other V6 out there. Dec 20, 2007

99 Mustang standard trans. - black on black, great looking car ( for 178 klm's ).
No major problems , and I run her hard. Interior is well put together,( as for the quality).The one peeve I have is the drink holder - if I have a cup in the holders - when shifting into 4th or reverse the stick hits the cup (s)! Other than that , this car handles superbly, well bilt and not too bad on fuel (- keeping the foot off the floorboard).
P.S.- As of today my fist major problem - the "anti- theft" system does not seem to "read" my ignition key (s)... and the car will not start ( will turn over though ).It's going to the dealership for further testing... ( a one off ? ).Aug 20, 2007
