What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 have a strong appreciation for its reliability, power, and fun driving experience. Many drivers enjoyed its performance for towing and hauling tasks as well as its tough exterior design. However, common complaints include poor gas mileage and issues with the interior aesthetics, such as the cracked dashboard. Despite these drawbacks, the truck is often seen as a dependable choice for various needs."
Performance is excellent. The 5.2L Magnum V8 has no problem with acceleration, it handles good for a truck and brakes very good. Build quality is excellent also, no squeaks or rattles and the truck feels very solid going over bumps and rough terrain. Appearance in my opinion is great, very good looking truck inside and out. Cost of ownership is alright as it gets pretty good gas mileage for a truck and being a Dodge it will run a long time. The fun factor is the best part, the Ram is very fun to drive and off-road with, the engine sounds great and it's fun to go cruising in.
August 8, 2010V8, standard shift, straight pipes, 18mpg 190000 miles on engine, replaced original plugs wires cap and rotor at 150000. cracked dash needs replaced but has been a great truck. have not spent any money for repairs just maintenence and wear items
June 15, 2010This has been a great truck with plenty of power can tow almost anything with it and has been 1 of the best 4x4 that i have every had. only problem is there isn't hardly any leg room in the back and probley has the worst gas miliage than any other truck

November 14, 2012I loved it it was big tons of power good looking would go anywhere pull anything climb anything easy to work on versatile comfortable fast extremely tough cheap to own the absolute funnest vehicle i have ever owned hands down.
November 30, 2009It sucked gas, but it was a great truck. I loved everything about it. Had a couple maintenance issues here and there, but most was user inflicted. It handled great for it's size, definitely would get up and go.
July 8, 2008The acceleration with this truck is great. It gets up and goes pretty well. The brakes are also good. It still has the factory brakes on it. It is pretty fun to drive, until the drone of the headers gets annoying. The one thing I'll complain on in the interior is the notorious cracked dash. This happens to all late model Dodge's, and it looks ugly. It just ruins the looks of the interior. The gas mileage sucks, but what was you going to expect? 30 mpg? Nooooo, not even close. On a good day, your probably going to get 15 mpg without ripping on it too much. The truck is fun to drive, but once again, the drone of the headers gets annoying after awhile. Overall, good truck even with the gas mileage.
June 14, 2013Like everything about it other than the gas mileage. Looks super nice and has the power to do anything. Very clean and mostly very dependable. Plus my 5 yr old thinks its a monster truck and loves to ride in it.
December 31, 2014Best pickup ever! It came from the dealership as a total badass and with less than $1000 in mods I was running low 13s on the drag strip. It had a 360 Mopar Smallblock that was putting 420 hp and 470 ft lbs of torque at the rear wheels. That thing was a rocket. The only thing I'd change was that it was 2 wheel drive but even then, if I aired down the tires, she'd go damn near anywhere. I mis that rig and i can't wait to get another one. But BIGGER!!
October 28, 2008This was my first vehicle in my possession and also what i learned how to drive manual trans. off of. I absolutely loved that truck, only thing to ever stop it..was it eventually flipping while sliding across gravel and flipping into a ditch..
December 28, 2007I love that I am not being blinded by the vehicles behind me anymore. I love that it is bright red and can do just about anything I want it to. I love taking it to the beach and off roading as well. It does decent as in mileage for highways. In town sucks. But that is a truck for you. Easy to maintain which is very nice. Very fun to drive especially since the mentality of most men is that women can't drive trucks and yet I prove them wrong every single day!
