#What’s New for the 2024 BMW X6 M
As if the BMW X6 M wasn’t bold enough, this year’s revisions make the fastback-styled family hauler even more aggressive. For 2024, the BMW X6 M is available exclusively in Competition trim, ditching the previous base model. Other news includes an updated infotainment system, revised exterior and interior designs, and an updated powertrain with a new 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
Design
From the dramatic sloped rear roofline to the elegant 21-inch alloy wheels fitted over massive performance brakes, the BMW X6 M is eye-catching, as it should be. Though it bears a close resemblance to the regular X6, the bigger wheels and more aggressive bodywork hint at much more capable performance. The X6 M gets some exterior updates for 2024, but they’re on the subtle side, relatively speaking, focused on the new all-black twin-kidney grille and a new M-exclusive headlight design.
Powertrain
The BMW X6 M’s updated powertrain adds a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to the carryover 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Total output is 617 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive (AWD) and an eight-speed automatic transmission are standard. Not surprisingly, EPA ratings aren’t great, at just 13 mpg city and 18 mpg highway. Other standard features include an M Sport exhaust system, an adjustable sport suspension system, and six-piston performance brakes.

Interior
The bright, airy cabin of the X6 M feels warm and welcoming, which is a feat considering the abundance of advanced technology and massive infotainment display. Premium leather seats with firm bolsters cushion front occupants, and even rear passengers get plenty of seat support. Other materials include plush carpeting, carbon fiber accents, and a leather-upholstered dashboard.
Technology
This year, the X6 M gets upgraded with the new eighth-generation version of BMW’s iDrive infotainment system, housed in a new curved 14.9-inch touchscreen. Other features include a 12.3-inch configurable digital information display, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and wireless device charging. The only notable tech option is a 20-speaker Bowers and Wilkins premium audio system.
