What’s New for the 2025 BMW i4
The i4 was first introduced for the 2022 model year, and for 2025, it receives a mid-generation update. This includes modest exterior and interior styling updates, as well as a revision of the lineup, with the eDrive35 discontinued.
Design
As mentioned, the i4 is basically an EV-swapped BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe. This makes it a vehicle roughly the size of the 3 Series sedan, but with a fastback design that allows for a rear hatch rather than a trunk, which is very helpful. The styling updates include slimmer headlights and revised taillights. It’s also offered with an M Sport package that features more aggressive styling.
Powertrain
The 2025 i4 comes with a 96-kWh battery that powers either a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup in the eDrive40 variant or a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup in the xDrive40 and M50 models. The eDrive40 makes 335 horsepower. The xDrive40 makes 396 horsepower, and the M50 puts out 536 horsepower. The latter can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. The eDrive40 has a range of 318 miles, and the other models have between 227 and 295 miles of range. Fast charging allows the battery to add about 90 miles of range in just 10 minutes of charging.

Interior
The i4 comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, tri-zone climate control, and a moonroof. Available packages and trims add features such as genuine leather, heated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Thanks to its fastback design, the i4 has 16.6 cubic feet of trunk space behind the rear seats. This can be expanded to 45.6 cubic feet by folding the rear seats.
Technology
All models feature a tech-rich cabin, including a fully digital instrument panel, four USB ports, and a 14.9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. Tech upgrades include wireless device charging, a head-up display, and a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon premium stereo system.
