What’s New for the 2025 Hyundai Sonata
The Hyundai Sonata was all-new in 2020 and received a significant refresh in 2024, so this midsize sedan is essential a carryover for the 2025 model year. The SE trim is reintroduced for 2025, and the SEL Convenience Package has become into a dedicated trim. Additionally, the N Line gets second-row console-mounted air vents for the rear-seat passengers.
Design
With the refresh for 2024, the styling on the Sonata takes cues from Hyundai’s EVs, with light bars across the front and rear of the vehicle. The 2025 Hyundai Sonata comes with 16-inch alloy wheels as standard, but 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels are included with the SEL and SEL Convenience trims, while the sporty N Line trim gets 19-inch alloy wheels. The Hyundai Sonata doesn’t really have appearance packages, it simply adds more content as you level up. The only real exterior option are a couple of $500 paint colors.
Powertrain
The 2025 Hyundai Sonata offers two powertrain options: a base 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is on the bottom three trims, and a 290hp 2.5-liter turbo, which is only available with the N Line. The Sonata is primarily a front-wheel drive sedan, but all-wheel drive is available with the SEL trim for $1,500. City fuel economy ranges between 23 mpg and 28 mpg, and highway fuel economy ranges between 32 mpg and 38 mpg, depending on trim and powertrain. You’ll see the best fuel economy with the base SE, and the worst with the top-tier N Line.
Interior
The 2025 Hyundai Sonata's cabin is clean and modern. The Sonata seats five, and has standard premium cloth seats. The only material change comes with the top N Line trim, where you get leatherette seats with suede inserts. A panoramic sunroof is standard with the SEL Convenience trim. The trunk offers 15.6 cubic-feet of cargo space, which is on par with other midsize sedans.
Technology
The standard infotainment screen in the 2025 Hyundai Sonata is 12.3 inches, and it includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard tech features include Bluelink+ connectivity, a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and USB-C charging ports. Available features include a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, Hyundai’s Digital Key 2 that lets you use your phone as the key, a 64-color ambient lighting system, wireless phone charging, dual automatic climate controls, heated front seats, and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system.
