The Lexus TX is a full-size, three-row SUV, and its car-like unibody platform makes it a more fuel-efficient alternative to the body-on-frame Lexus GX and LX models that are better at towing and off-roading. Rivals include the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the BMW X7, the Audi Q7, and the Infiniti QX80.

What’s New for the 2026 Lexus TX Hybrid
The 2026 Lexus TX gets only minor changes after debuting for the 2024 model year, along with the related Toyota Grand Highlander. The plug-in hybrid TX 550h+ adds a standard panoramic glass roof, and a new Matador Red Mica color is available for the PHEV version. Third-row passengers also get additional modular cupholders.
Design
The 2026 Lexus TX has a big footprint but looks rather generic. The nose squints with narrow headlights connected by a thin top grille cutout. From there, the grille cascades down, growing wider at the bottom. The sides have pronounced haunches around the wheels, and the waist tucks in at the rocker panels. Black pillars create a floating roof look, and the rear features a full-width taillight to mimic the front end. The TX rides on standard 22-inch alloy wheels.
Powertrain
In addition to the standard gas models, the Lexus TX offers hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, both with standard all-wheel drive (AWD). The hybrid, called the TX 500h, uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with front and rear electric motors and a small 1.4-kWh battery producing a combined 366 horsepower. It gets an EPA-rated 27 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, 27 mpg combined. The TX plug-in hybrid uses a 3.5-liter V6, two electric motors, and an 18.1-kWh battery. It produces 404 hp, has 33 miles of electric range, and is EPA-rated at 28/29/28 mpg. The hybrid can tow 5,000 pounds, but Lexus doesn't issue a tow rating for the PHEV.

Interior
The Lexus TX comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery, 10-way power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, a heated power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and driver’s seat memory. The Luxury versions get soft Nappa leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, and a panoramic glass roof. Lexus makes six-passenger seating standard thanks to second-row captain’s chairs. Cargo space is generous, and with all the seats up, the TX has 20.2 cubic feet of cargo space. That increases to 57.4 cubic feet with the third row folded down and a hearty 97 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded down.
Technology
The TX’s standard interior technology includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, cloud-based navigation, seven USB ports, a wireless phone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 30-day Wi-Fi hotspot trial. Also available are a digital key, a head-up display, and a rear-camera mirror. A 12-speaker audio system comes standard, and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson audio system is available.
