The Chevrolet Corvette nameplate has been going strong since 1953, and it’s only getting better with each passing year. It’s been six years since the introduction of the mid-engine Corvette that enthusiasts know as the C8, and the 2027 model year brings an all-new engine and the return of the Grand Sport model.

What’s New for the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette
The biggest news for 2027 is Chevrolet’s latest world-beating V8 engine, known as the LS6. The Grand Sport model, a fan favorite that receives a widebody treatment like the Z06, along with a performance exhaust system, MagneRide adaptive suspension, and a rear axle ratio tuned for acceleration, also debuts for 2027. The standard Corvette Stingray and new Grand Sport models will receive an LS6 engine version that produces 535 horsepower. The Grand Sport X, which replaces the E-Ray for 2027, adds an electric motor on the front axle to deliver 721 hp and all-wheel drive (AWD) to the Corvette platform.
Design
The wedge-shaped exterior of the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette couldn’t be mistaken for anything but America’s world-conquering sports car. Long and low, the Corvette’s mid-engine design is made evident by its forward-positioned cabin and air intakes mounted behind the car’s two doors. Aggressive headlights point the way forward and are positioned directly above a pointed snout with triple air intakes. An optional center-exit exhaust looks great and surely sounds even better.
The new 2027 Corvette Grand Sport will offer Admiral Blue Metallic, a color initially launched with the C4 Grand Sport, along with a white racing stripe and red Grand Sport hash marks that are moved to the rear fenders instead of the front to highlight the Corvette’s mid-engine design.
As before, the two-seat Corvette’s roof panel can be removed for open-air motoring. The roof can be stored in a cargo spot right behind the mid-mounted engine. The Corvette Convertible boasts a power-retractable roof that can be raised or lowered at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour.
Powertrain
The LS6 engine is a really big deal. This all-new design kicks off the sixth generation of General Motors’ long-running small block V8 engine. With 535 hp in base form, the LS6 will be the most powerful engine ever put in a base-model Corvette, and its 520 lb-ft of torque makes it the torquiest naturally aspirated V8 engine ever put into production. The LS6’s compression ratio of 13:1 is also the highest of any Corvette to date. The LS6 displaces 6.7 liters, which is the same size as the classic 409 engine (giddy up!) from the original muscle-car era.
A Z52 Performance Package includes a stiffer suspension setup, upgraded brakes, and stickier tires, while a Z52 Track Package adds carbon ceramic brakes, track-specific tires, and a body kit with aerodynamic aids such as a carbon-fiber splitter and a rear wing.
These days, it’s not uncommon for high-performance cars to include an electric motor for more power. For 2027, the Corvette Grand Sport X takes the spot of the discontinued E-Ray with a 186-hp electric motor that powers the car’s front wheels for a total of 721 hp. The Grand Sport X comes standard with carbon ceramic brakes, and a Performance Package with sticky tires is optional.
Driving enthusiasts may not be happy to see that there’s no manual transmission in the 2027 Corvette, but the standard eight-speed dual-clutch automatic does offer steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
Though they have yet to be officially announced, carryover models should include the Z06 and its exotic flat-plane V8 engine with 670 hp and a high 8,500-rpm redline, the 1,064-hp ZR1, and the ZR1X that combines the ZR1’s turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 and the same front-mounted electric motor as the Grand Sport X to produce 1,250 total horsepower.

Interior
The 2027 Corvette’s two-passenger interior features a dashboard and console that wrap around the driver for an immersive experience. The Corvette’s interior was upgraded for the 2026 model year and carries over for 2027, with a digital gauge cluster in front of the driver, drive mode and gear selector buttons atop the center console, and physical knobs and buttons for the audio system and climate control.
A Launch Edition for the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport will feature a unique Santorini Blue-Dipped interior, pairing bright blue upholstery and leather with red contrast stitching and seat belts.
Technology
The Corvette’s interior is dominated by three configurable displays. To the left of the steering wheel is a 6.6-inch touchscreen that displays the driver’s choice of options, including trip details and Performance Traction Management settings. The center 14-inch digital instrument cluster offers Tour, Sport, and Track display designs that reposition the speedometer, tachometer, and other important gauges to the driver’s liking. A 12.7-inch touchscreen to the right of the digital instrument cluster runs Chevrolet’s latest infotainment system and features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
A Performance App allows 2027 Corvette drivers to see acceleration timers, a G-force gauge that displays max cornering figures, power and torque flow (with an eAWD gauge for X-badged electrified Corvette models), and engine vitals.
