What’s New for the 2027 Chevrolet Traverse
New for 2027 is a more refined and luxurious High Country trim level with new exterior badging, satin exterior highlights, and 22-inch high-gloss black wheels. Inside, the 2027 Chevrolet Traverse High Country impresses with a newly designed set of jet black and natural tan seats, natural tan-edged seatbelts, debossed first-row headrests, and wood interior trim. Also new for 2027 is an interior camera that's available across the range and standard on RS and High Country models. A Cabin Glance view gives the driver the ability to glance at the full interior, and a surround-view camera system with a security recording mode can capture what’s happening outside the vehicle. Finally, Twilight Blue and Trillium Green Metallic are new colors for the 2027 model year.
Design
The 2027 Chevy Traverse is a handsome vehicle. The current version was introduced for the 2024 model year and still looks ruggedly modern today. A bold split-grille fascia flanked by thin lighting clusters adds aggressiveness to the big crossover’s exterior appearance, and sculpted bodysides give it a sporty edge. Exterior finishes vary by trim level, with the base LT model wearing lots of bright bits and a fairly basic grille design. The Z71 looks more aggressive, which makes sense as an off-road-oriented model. The new High Country model is the most luxurious version, and the RS has plenty of black accents and red badging to stand out as the sporty trim level.
Powertrain
All 2027 Chevrolet Traverse models are powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic and front-wheel drive (FWD) are standard, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is available as an option. Traverse Z71 models get a more advanced twin-clutch AWD system that can vary the amount of power sent to each rear wheel. FWD models are rated at 20 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg combined. With AWD, those figures drop to 20 city, 24 highway, and 21 combined. The Traverse is rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds.
Interior
The Chevy Traverse is very spacious, with comfortable seats for up to seven passengers, or six with second-row captain’s chairs. The second-row seats can slide forward and back to allow more space for passengers in the third row—which is big enough for regular use. Cloth upholstery comes standard, but faux and real leather are used in upper trim levels. The Traverse has more space inside than any other vehicle in its class, with up to 98 cubic feet with all the seats lowered, around 57 cubic feet behind the second row, and almost 23 cubic feet with all seats upright.
Technology
The Traverse’s dashboard is dominated by a pair of digital screens that are separate but nestled side by side in the same housing. An 11-inch display is used as the vehicle’s gauge cluster, while a 17-inch touchscreen that serves as the infotainment display runs on Google built-in software. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, and wireless device charging is standard. A six-speaker audio system is standard, and a 12-speaker system from Bose is available.
