As Infiniti’s flagship model, the 2027 QX80 competes with large, luxury, European SUVs such as the BMW X7, the Land Rover Range Rover, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS. What’s New for the 2027 Infiniti QX80
Updates to the 2027 QX80 are minor. The base QX80 Pure grade no longer offers a second-row bench seat package, which leaves the upmarket Luxe model as the only version to offer eight-passenger seating. The Luxe also gains access to Infiniti’s ProPilot Assist 2.1 package, which opens up semi-autonomous hands-off driving under certain circumstances, along with ambient lighting featuring 64 colors.
Design
The current version of the Infiniti QX80 launched for the 2025 model year and ushered in a new design direction that Japanese automaker calls Artistry in Motion. Designed to look like it’s moving even when sitting still, the QX80 has a so-called anti-wedge profile that emphasizes the long, flat hood and a straight shoulder line. Up front, Infiniti’s signature double-arch grille casts an imposing look, while narrow driving lights at the top of the fascia join lower headlight clusters for a unique appearance. More than 300 LEDs make up the rear lighting elements. Base 2027 Infiniti QX80 models get 20-inch wheels, but all other trim levels feature 22-inch rims.
Powertrain
All 2027 Infiniti QX80 models feature a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 450 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic sends that power to either the rear wheels or optionally to all four. With rear-wheel drive (RWD), the QX80 is estimated to return 16 mpg in the city, 20 mpg on the highway, and 18 mpg combined. With all-wheel drive (AWD), those numbers drop to 16 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined. The 2027 Infiniti QX80 can tow up to 8,500 pounds.
Interior
According to Infiniti, the QX80’s interior is inspired by Japanese culture and the principle of miyabi, which “references the use of layered, soft materials and gorgeous, flowing integration of technology and extraordinarily high-quality materials.” This layered look can be seen on the dashboard, which incorporates LED lighting strips, leather elements, unique wood trims, and plastics with horizontal patterns. The top-level QX80 Autograph trim benefits from semi-aniline leather with a unique, hand-stitched pattern. Open-pore ash wood trim with laser-cut aluminum inlays adds to the layered look in Autograph models.
Technology
A pair of 14.3-inch digital screens sits toward the top of the QX80's dashboard, one serving as a digital gauge cluster and the other as the touchscreen infotainment system. A third 9-inch screen is mounted below the infotainment display and used for various functions, including the SUV’s climate control system. Infiniti’s Google-based infotainment software includes Google Maps and a Google voice assistant, and additional apps can be added via the Google Play store. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. All QX80 models feature a Klipsch audio system, with Pure and Luxe models including 14 speakers and Sport and Autograph trims getting an upgraded 24-speaker system.
