The Jeep Wrangler is currently in its fourth generation, with its last full redesign in 2018. It sits in the midsize off-road SUV segment, and its primary competitors include the Ford Bronco, the Toyota 4Runner, and the Toyota Land Cruiser. More expensive competitors include the Land Rover Defender and the INEOS Grenadier.
Though Jeep hadn’t released the full trim lineup for 2027 at the time of writing, we anticipate there will be at least 11 trims. This includes the existing Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Willys ’41, Rubicon, Rubicon X, Willys 392, and Moab 392, with two new trims joining the range: Laredo and Sarge.

What’s New for the 2027 Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler received a significant refresh in 2024 that included a new seven-slot grille, a refreshed interior, more tech, and additional safety features. There are no big design changes for 2027, but Jeep’s Twelve 4 Twelve Wrangler series heralds a couple of new trim levels. The Wrangler Sarge will include exclusive ’41 Green accents, military-style details, and heritage graphics and badging. The Wrangler Laredo will have heritage colors, bronze accents, and a tan soft top, as well as a one-inch lift and 35-inch tires.
Design
The Wrangler sports an old-school upright design built for off-roading, with a standard ground clearance of 9.7 inches. It comes in both two- and four-door body styles, and has removable doors and a flip-down windshield. A variety of hard- and soft-top options further bring the outdoors into the cabin, including the Sky One-Touch Power Top, which is available on the Willys, Sahara, and Rubicon trims. While there isn’t a specific appearance package available for the Wrangler, each trim has different wheels and design cues. There are also various hood and body graphics available by trim to personalize the vehicle. Standard wheels on the Wrangler are 17 inches and 18-inch wheels are available.
Powertrain
The 2027 Wrangler carries over the same three powertrains from 2026—a 270-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, a 285-hp V6, and a 470-hp V8. All three offer an eight-speed automatic transmission, but the V6 also gives the option of a six-speed manual. All Wranglers come standard with four-wheel drive and have a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. Fuel economy will vary depending on powertrain and body style, ranging from 20 mpg in the city with the two-door model equipped with the four-cylinder engine to 13 mpg for four-door models with the V8. Highway fuel economy ranges from 23 mpg to 16 mpg. While base Sport models have 9.7 inches of ground clearance, some of the more off-road-focused models get up to 12.9 inches of ground clearance and the ability to ford up to 35 inches of water. The Wrangler also offers three advanced 4X4 systems—Command-Trac, Rock-Trac (part- and full-time), and Selec-Trac.
Interior
The Wrangler's interior is fairly utilitarian, and even with the large infotainment screen, there are still hard-touch buttons and dials for audio and HVAC controls. The window switches are on the center stack to accommodate the removable doors, and the interior materials are more functional than fancy. The standard seating surfaces are a rugged black cloth, but lighter interior materials, synthetic leather, and Nappa leather are available. Though the Wrangler doesn’t have a sunroof, it does offer various open-air options including Sky One-Touch Power Top and a Sunrider for Hardtop that fits a soft-top section over the front passenger space for an easy sunroof-like option. Seating and cargo capacity vary based on the two- or four-door models. The two-door seats four, while the four-door seats five. The former has a maximum cargo volume of 31.7 cubic feet, whereas the latter offers 72.4 cubic feet.
Technology
One of the big additions for the 2024 refresh was a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard tech features include an eight-speaker audio system, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot (subscription required), app access to Trails Offroad Trail Mapping that can be displayed through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio (subscription required). Available tech features include a forward-facing trail camera, remote vehicle start, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, and power-adjustable front seats. Because the side doors are removable, the Wrangler does not offer a surround-view camera system.
