What’s New for the 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV
The all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV is an electric car based on the midsize C-Class sedan and will be available at launch in one trim level: the C 400 4Matic EV. It’s a smaller, simpler EV from Mercedes, following the big, expensive EQS models.
Design
The C-Class EV is based on a new electric platform, rather than a modified platform from the gas-powered C-Class, and a longer wheelbase creates more interior space. Short front and rear overhangs punctuate a low, sleek roof for a sporty look, anchored by standard 18-inch wheels. Other details include flush door handles, a chrome-framed grille with optional lighting and animations, and star motifs in both front and rear lighting.
Powertrain
The Mercedes-Benz C 400 4Matic EV features a dual-motor powertrain with a front disconnect unit, enabling part-time 4Matic all-wheel drive (AWD). The powertrain uses a two-speed automatic transmission and a 94-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It’s rated for 483 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, and capable of an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph. Mercedes says it will take about 22 minutes to DC fast-charge the C-Class EV 80% capacity. The EPA has not yet published an expected range.
Interior
The C-Class EV seats five across two rows, and all five passengers can enjoy the latest luxury features. Options include front sport seats, a backrest massage function, ventilation, a 4D sound system, and an illuminated panoramic roof with customizable ambient lighting. Upholstery choices include diamond-quilted leather with contrast stitching or a new vegan upholstery package that exclusively uses soft-touch surfaces throughout the cabin. On a more practical note, the C-Class EV can stow 16.6 cubic feet of cargo in the trunk, and also features a frunk under the hood.
Technology
The C-Class EV is available with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) Hyperscreen infotainment system, which features a seamless display spanning 39.1 inches. Independently adjustable zones allow the driver to access navigation and other features, while the front passenger can configure an individual section of the screen for entertainment. The MBUX Superscreen is yet another upgrade option, combining three displays into a single glass panel. Mercedes offers the C-Class EV with a Burmester 4D surround-sound audio system.
