With 30.1% of listings priced as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.36/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The cost-effectiveness notes add that Kia’s warranty and roadside assistance programs help ownership feel less risky, and the model’s depreciation profile supports confidence over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Soul?

At 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s features and electronics work as expected. Because the Soul’s appeal depends so much on value and usability, condition matters a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The test vehicle shows how much the Soul can gain from higher equipment, including leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, premium audio, LED interior lighting, HID headlights, LED running lights, Smart Key entry, push-button start, heated seats, and ventilated front seats. The base car is much simpler, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the Soul’s more upscale feel.
• Powertrain: The Soul uses a 164-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The expert notes say it feels lively around town, but more power would be welcome.
• Safety package: The Soul includes 911 Connect through UVO eServices, plus Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features. The safety notes also mention a reversing camera, but the car is unavailable with blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The test car’s infotainment setup includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Kia UVO eServices, navigation, Bluetooth audio, Pandora Internet radio, Siri Eyes Free, and Google Local Search capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert recorded 24.6 mpg in combined driving, with EPA estimates of 23 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

Which 2015 Kia Soul trim should I buy?

The 2015 Kia Soul is offered in 1 trim level: !.

Here's the short version:

The ! trim is the one explicitly described in the test-drive material, and it shows the Soul at its most feature-rich. It adds the kind of equipment that makes the car feel more special, including leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, navigation, premium audio, heated and ventilated front seats, and a long list of convenience and lighting upgrades. If you want the Soul’s personality plus the most upscale presentation, this is the version the data supports most clearly.

The safety notes also point out that the Soul lacks blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert, so even the better-equipped version still leaves some modern driver-assistance features off the table.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Soul?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,186 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,621, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $7,816 sits slightly below last year's $8,168.

That softer pricing suggests the Soul has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. A lower entry cost today can make it easier to preserve value later, especially if you choose a clean, well-kept example with desirable equipment.

The model’s broad appeal also helps: shoppers tend to respond to its personality, practicality, and value, which can support demand in the used market. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records organized, you improve your odds of a stronger resale outcome.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.36/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Kia Soul safe?

The 2015 Kia Soul earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety tech centers on 911 Connect through UVO eServices, which can automatically alert emergency responders after a collision if a paired smartphone is present. Kia also includes Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features, which can be especially useful for households with teen drivers.

The main caveat is that the Soul is missing some modern active safety features, including blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert. That omission matters if you want the most complete driver-assistance coverage in a used small car.

Should I buy a 2015 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.36/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Expert notes call it a terrific, personality-filled car with strong value and good safety ratings.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $6,938, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $7,816 average.
• It blends everyday usefulness with a distinctive personality and strong appeal for younger drivers.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around buy, the 2015 is the better target because it combines softer pricing, solid owner satisfaction, and strong expert praise. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the sensible fallback, especially if you find one in clean condition and with the features you want.
