How much does the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 2.80% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 280 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Generally — 4/5 is a strong user rating for a vehicle that blends old-school, military-derived toughness with unmistakable luxury presence. The 2017 model’s appeal is its combination of iconic styling, off-road credibility, and upscale equipment, and it was positioned as an exclusive SUV from the start. If you want something that feels both rugged and premium, this model year fits that use case well. 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2017 G-Class is described as generally very reliable, but it also comes with expensive maintenance and repair costs, so ownership is not cheap even when the truck is holding up well. That means your biggest long-term risk as a used buyer is not just mechanical reliability, but the cost of keeping the vehicle in top condition over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 68.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was cosmetic or structural. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of expensive repairs, since this model’s premium parts and labor can make hidden issues costly. Focus on overall condition and maintenance quality, because a well-kept example is more important than simply finding the lowest sticker price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 280 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.80% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $80,886, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $83,742 sits slightly below last year's $86,151.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale gains may be limited unless you choose a particularly clean, well-documented example. For a future seller, condition and history will matter a lot because buyers in this segment tend to pay up for examples that feel well preserved. Strong maintenance records and accident-free history should help your listing stand out when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2017 if you want the classic G-Class look, strong user satisfaction, and a market that still offers some deal opportunities. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 remains a compelling choice when you find a clean example with a strong history and a price near the lower end of the range.
