How much does the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo cost?

Prices have softened 7.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,105 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for a commercial van shopper.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, solid build quality, good fuel mileage, and easy maneuverability in tight city settings. The expert review also highlights its versatility, comfortable driving experience, and broad configurability for different kinds of work.

The trade-offs are that performance is fairly pedestrian in the standard setup, and advanced safety features are not standard.

For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want a practical work van that can be tailored to a specific job, especially if comfort and flexibility matter more than sporty driving. 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to solid build quality and a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for the van’s ability to handle daily work use and city driving. The expert review also emphasizes that it is a manageable, versatile vehicle for business use, with a comfortable and practical setup.

Ford’s standard driver-assistance tech and available maintenance alerts through FordPass Connect add to the sense that this van is built to be counted on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the platform itself and more about how hard a work van has been used and maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Transit Cargo?

At 67.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of body panels, cargo-area wear, and signs of heavy commercial use. Because these vans are often configured and worked hard in different ways, condition matters as much as mileage. If you can, focus on how the van was equipped and whether the features you need are actually present.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Transit is offered in T-150, T-250, and T-350 trims, and standard equipment is fairly sparse on the lower end. You get 16-inch steel wheels, power-adjustable side mirrors, power locks and windows, manually adjusting front seats, air conditioning, and a basic stereo with Bluetooth, dual USB ports, and a 4.0-inch display. Higher-spec versions can add heated seats, upgraded upholstery, remote start, and the SYNC 3 system.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 3.5-liter V6 with 275 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. An optional 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 raises output to 310 hp and 400 lb-ft, and the van uses a new 10-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available, which can be especially useful in colder climates.
• Safety package: Ford made forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams standard. Blind-spot monitoring, front-and-rear parking sensors, cross-traffic alert, and a front/rear split-view camera system are optional, so you should check carefully for those features on the exact van you’re considering.
• Infotainment: The available SYNC 3 system uses an 8.0-inch touchscreen and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The van also comes standard with FordPass Connect and a 4G WiFi modem.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA does not require fuel-economy estimates for the cargo van, but the passenger van with the naturally aspirated V6 returns 15 mpg city, 19 highway, 17 combined with rear-wheel drive, and 14 city, 19 highway, 16 combined with all-wheel drive. In expert testing, the EcoBoost all-wheel-drive van averaged 16.7 miles per gallon.

Which 2020 Ford Transit Cargo trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford Transit Cargo is offered in 3 trim levels: T-150, T-250, T-350.

Here's the short version:

• T-150: This is the entry point and makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Transit lineup. It gives you the core work-van setup, but the standard equipment is basic, so it suits buyers who plan to customize or upfit the van for a specific job.
• T-250: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and gives you a more flexible starting point without jumping all the way to the heaviest-duty version. If you want a balanced mix of capability and cost, this is the trim to focus on.
• T-350: Choose this if your work demands the most capability and you expect to carry heavier loads or want the most robust version of the Transit Cargo. It makes the most sense for buyers who need maximum utility rather than the lowest purchase price.

Ford’s standard safety tech is a strong plus across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, cross-traffic alert, and the split-view camera system remain optional, so check each listing closely.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Transit Cargo?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,105 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.73% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,644, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo's resale value?

The current average of $22,644 sits slightly below last year's $24,541.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy a well-equipped van in strong condition so it stands out when you eventually list it. Commercial vans with the right configuration and clean history tend to hold buyer interest better than mismatched or heavily worn examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo safe?

The 2020 Ford Transit Cargo earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford made forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams standard for this model year. Blind-spot monitoring, front-and-rear parking sensors, cross-traffic alert, and a front/rear split-view camera system are optional, so you should verify whether a specific used van has the safety equipment you want.

The Transit’s large windows and side mirrors help visibility, but the rear-door pillar creates a small blind spot in the center of the rear-view mirror. That makes the available camera-based aids especially useful on used examples.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford Transit Cargo or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model year stands out for its newly standard safety technology, available all-wheel drive, and updated powertrain choices.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern version of this van’s work-focused formula, the 2020 is the one to target. It gives you updated safety tech, multiple powertrain choices, and the flexibility that makes the Transit Cargo useful for business buyers. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2020 is the better pick when you want the strongest mix of features and market value.
