What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Renegade?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because accident-free status is only a starting point. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on how the transmission behaves, whether the engine feels responsive enough for your needs, and whether the equipment on the specific trim matches what you expected. It also helps to confirm that the features you care about are present, since the lineup mixes standard equipment with trim-specific upgrades.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport comes standard with push-button start, dual-zone climate control, a USB port, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Jeepster adds keyless passive entry, remote start, 19-inch alloy wheels, and unique badging. The Latitude adds another USB port and 17-inch alloy wheels. The Upland adds skid plates and a unique front bumper, while the 80th Anniversary gets 19-inch alloy wheels, HD radio, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation. The Islander adds exclusive hood graphics, white roof panels, and a dual-panel panoramic moonroof. The Limited adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, a power-adjustable driver's seat, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and standard 4WD. The Trailhawk adds skid plates, tow hooks, a lifted suspension, all-terrain tires, and an upgraded 4WD system.
• Powertrain: The base 2.4-liter four-cylinder makes 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. The turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder makes 177 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque. Both engines use a nine-speed automatic and are available with FWD or 4WD. The turbo engine is the more refined choice, while the base engine is less impressive.
• Safety package: Jeep made automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection standard across the lineup. The Trailhawk is the exception for automatic emergency braking. Adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors still cost extra.
• Infotainment: The standard screen is 7 inches, while an 8.4-inch screen is optional on some mid-tier trims and standard on higher trims. Both use Uconnect and include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A Kenwood premium audio system is available.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version is the 1.3-liter turbo with FWD at 24 mpg city, 32 highway, 27 combined. With FWD, the 1.3-liter returns 23 mpg city, 29 highway, 26 combined. In the Trailhawk, it returns 22 mpg city, 27 highway, 24 combined. The 2.4-liter with FWD returns 22 mpg city, 30 highway, 25 combined, and with 4WD it returns 21 mpg city, 29 highway, 24 combined.

Which 2021 Jeep Renegade trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Renegade is offered in 8 trim levels: Sport, Jeepster, Latitude, Upland, 80th Anniversary, Islander, Limited, and Trailhawk.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it already gives you push-button start, dual-zone climate control, a USB port, and the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Renegade without giving up the core tech.
• Jeepster: This trim adds keyless passive entry, remote start, 19-inch alloy wheels, and unique badging. It’s a good fit if you want a little more convenience and style without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Latitude: This trim adds a second USB port and 17-inch alloy wheels, and it opens up more option packages. It’s the best-value choice if you want a practical middle ground with more flexibility.
• Upland: This adventure-minded trim adds skid plates and a unique front bumper, and it comes exclusively with 4WD. Choose it if you want a more rugged look and a bit more trail-ready hardware.
• 80th Anniversary: This version adds 19-inch alloy wheels, HD radio, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation. It’s the pick if you want a more upscale tech setup without going all the way to the top trims.
• Islander: This limited-edition model adds exclusive hood graphics, white roof panels, a dual-panel panoramic moonroof, and a unique color palette. It’s the style-first choice.
• Limited: This is the luxury-oriented trim, with leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, a power-adjustable driver's seat, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and standard 4WD. It’s the right call if comfort matters most.
• Trailhawk: This is the capability-focused trim, with skid plates, tow hooks, a lifted suspension, all-terrain tires, and an upgraded 4WD system. It’s the one to buy if off-road ability is your priority.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the Trailhawk is the exception for automatic emergency braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Renegade?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,480 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,382, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Renegade's resale value?

The current average of $16,382 sits slightly below last year's $18,211.

That drop suggests the Renegade has become more affordable for buyers, which can help future sellers by widening the pool of shoppers who can afford it. At the same time, softer pricing today means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim.

Well-equipped versions with the right features may hold attention better than stripped-down examples, especially if they present cleanly and have strong maintenance records. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Renegade safe?

The 2021 Jeep Renegade earns four-star ratings from NHTSA in crash tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep made automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection standard across the lineup. Adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors still cost extra, and the Trailhawk is the exception for automatic emergency braking.

That standard safety equipment is a real strength, but the four-star crash-test result is worth keeping in mind if safety is your top priority.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Renegade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year: Jeep made previously optional safety features standard across the lineup.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $14,644, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $16,382 average.
• It emphasizes personality and Trail Rated capability more than plain practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, standard safety equipment, and broad inventory, the 2021 is the better starting point. If your budget is tighter and you’re willing to give up some of the 2021’s pricing advantage and standard-equipment gains, the 2020 can still make sense.
