The Ram ProMaster is a full-size commercial van that offers plenty of customization options, as well as some of the best cargo dimensions in the class. For 2021, the ProMaster gets a number of new standard and optional safety features. Rivals include the Ford Transit, Nissan NV, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

The Ram ProMaster’s exterior design is more oriented toward functionality than aesthetics. A passenger-side sliding door and rear barn doors provide easy access, and notches provide a secure hold for a loading ramp. The front end provides plenty of visibility. There are a total of 18 available wheelbase and roof height configurations.

A 280-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 comes standard, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and front-wheel drive (FWD). Official EPA ratings are not available. Properly equipped, the Ram ProMaster can tow up to 6,800 pounds.

The ProMaster can be optimized for passengers or cargo, with a number of seating configurations and up-fit options. The front row includes a variety of storage trays and bins, and an ambient lighting package enables the ProMaster to serve as a mobile workspace.

The Uconnect infotainment system comes standard, and it features a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, and voice control. A USB port and a 12-volt outlet also come standard. Navigation is optional.

A reversing camera comes standard, and new for 2021, crosswind assist also comes standard. Options include forward-collision warning, emergency brake assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Fiat-Chrysler is also using the Ram ProMaster to debut a new optional feature: a 9.2-inch LCD digital rearview mirror that replaces the traditional rearview mirror and uses a digital camera feed to deliver an unobstructed view.

The Ram ProMaster is a functional and versatile choice for a full-size commercial van. The 2021 model will be available this summer, with pricing announced closer to its on-sale date.
